1. I've heard it is normal for breastfed babes to go a day or two without pooping. Right? He hasn't gone more than 24 hours. Part II of this question, when he has been pooping...it is really liquidy. Should I be at all concerned?
2. My milk supply is up where I need it to be. Do I keep pumping after each feeding?
Re: Two Baby Questions
1. Yes, it is normal. It wasn't often Luke would go days, but, sometimes he wouldn't go for a day or two. BF-d poops were always liquidy for me, mustard consistency.
2. After my BF-ing stint, I think my goal is to feed off one breast and pump the other after feeding. In the beginning I would feed him off both and then an hour or so later pump. I finally caught on it was better to feed out of one and then pump the other.
God, I'm not looking forward to pumping again.
1. Breastfed babies can go a week or longer without a bowel movement. Nothing to be concerned about.
(Sorry, I can't help with question #2.)
1. Normal like everyone said - constipation is actually pretty rare in a EBF baby. I'd only be really concerned if it seemed like he was straining or pooping little hard poops.
2. I'd slowly start weaning yourself from some of those extra sessions and see how it goes. If you feel like you're not getting enough for his bottles the next day, then add some back in. I always found some days I wouldn't pump enough and would have to use some from the freezer, and other days I'd pump extra and put some in the freezer - I pretty much broke even with the milk and didn't work to pump a big stash.
1. Ben only went 1x a week if I remember right. I was worried that he wasn't taking in enough milk, but he gained appropriately so it was fine. It's quite liquidy.
2. I only pumped every morning so I would have enough to give him at daycare (on top of pumping the additional 2x the days I worked). You are probably fine to not pump after every feeding. I would just make sure you are able to provide enough for daycare if you drop those sessions. I loved pumping in the morning because I would see nice full bottles that would amount to a full days worth of pumping at work.
