Wednesday Workshop

Well, i don't technically have a project/renovation/craft im working on right now. But the next thing i REALLY want to tackle in our house is making a pantry. We have a nook in our kitchen (about 3' wide and 18" deep) that we want to turn into a pantry. I'm looking into cheap ways for us to do this without completey changing things. It would be nice if we didnt have to sheetrock anything! We'll see...

Re: Wednesday Workshop

  • I'm trying to design invitations for our friends wedding. It's a lot harder than I remember.

  • I've still just got the wedding invitations going on. Kind of in a holding pattern right now since the weddings aren't until June/July.

Kim - could you get some shelves up in the nook so you can start using it as a pantry/storage? Then you can put up a door later on. Just a thought!

  • I don't have a craft project I'm working on unless you count the school musical, heh!  This past week, we got the bridge built - it's 40 feet long, 3.5 feet high.  A dad designed it for us and then came and built it with the help of parent volunteers.  We also got the scenery flats built and 2 staircases.  The staircases have been painted and the flats have been primed.  More to come each week on this one, I guess!

You made my wedding day complete.

  • More work on my little studio.  I am going to look at buying Muslin fabric for my backdrop today.  I also need to find some sort of clamp to hold the backdrop to my set......I borrowed a par can light from my little brother.  I'm going to see if It will work for some directional light.

I also need to call GoDaddy for help with my website.  I can't figure out why it looks updated in Dreamweaver, but the changes don't appear online.  That's the part that people are going to see!

  • My next project on the house is our master bathroom.  We will be sanding and repainting the cabinets, painting the walls, tiling around the mirrors and changing the counter tops (not sure when this will happen though).  I may try to start this weekend, but we will see. I'll post pictures as I go!

  • We are trying to find curtains for our bedroom.  It's been neglected, and never really been a room I've liked to hang out in, which is unfortunate.  DH and I are trying to make it more inviting and comfortable, maybe it'll help spice things up a little if you know what I mean!

Anyway, we're having trouble finding the right green color.  We're looking for a light grassy green color.  Not sage, not lime, but somewhere in between. We've looked at Bed Bath and Beyond, JCPenney, Target, and Lowes....trying The Great Indoors next.

  • DH and I are getting started on our baby's room!  We haven't done much other than get the room organized.  It started off as our guest room when we moved in, but it was basically just the room we threw stuff in that we didn't feel like dealing with (the bed wasn't even set up).  So, now we have an actual bed (no comforter yet), curtains, and an organized closet!  Now we're trying to figure out the theme...it's going to double as our baby's room and a guest bedroom so we want a theme that will work for both.  Some ideas are nautical (DH is in the Navy) or planes (DH is in Naval Aviation).  That's about it so far....we're just getting started!

I was looking for bedspreads at ikea today- and they have some simple navy/light blue duvet covers that I am going to buy some night next week for our guest room (to go with various Notre Dame items my husband owns).

Oh neat!  Thanks for the tip :)  We'll have to go check those out...we have navy blue curtains, so those duvets would definitely go well!
