Last year we had to wait over an hour after our reservation time at Ruth's Chris to be seated. I think this year we are just going to skip going out.
Re: Valentines Day Plans?
We are totally not into Valentine's Day and usually just skip it altogether. For me, it's the ultimate Hallmark Holiday and I refuse to get sucked into the hype. Just call me the Valentine's Scrooge
We did try to go out one year and, like you, had a long wait despite the fact that we had a reservation. And there were about a dozen other couples in the same boat as us! We got fed up, left, and had some pretty yummy leftovers at home instead.
We've never been out for Valentines Day... the first year we were dating, I was sick and he brought me take-out but never been out to a restaurant. In fact, he's traveling that week anyway!
We're getting our taxes done that night! How romantic!
Maybe we'll go out to lunch or dinner the day before... or just stay home and get a movie. We haven't talked about it much.
Since we've been married DH and I have gotten into the tradition of making dinner together for Valentine's Day instead of going out. We usually make an elaborate 3-course meal with something expensive
Last year we had filet mignon with a port sauce. yummmm After dinner we usually have a dessert ready (red velvet cake last year) and we watch an old movie. We weren't really intending to make it a tradition but we've done it the past 2 years so we'll probably continue it now.
And DH knows I will kill him if he spends tons of money on overpriced flowers just because it's valentine's day haha I just tell him to surprise me with flowers in the spring instead

That sounds like a really, really nice night!
Watching this, I'd love an idea besides going out for dinner!
bringing Tim to the airport for his 6am flight to Jackson Hole so he can go skiing!
haha, we're not big into doing anything for valentine's day. I can't even remember what we've done from year to year.
Oh gosh I didn't realize his trip was leaving that morning!
haha yeah. the only part of it I mind is that it's a Monday and I'll have to go to work after getting up at like 3am so that we can get to the airport!
We don't really do valentine's day. It's my dad's birthday so it has always been that for me, not the holiday!
With that said, it's a holiday (President's day?) and DH is actually home that day before he turns around and leaves again on Tuesday, the 15th so I plan to soak up all the time with him I can get
President's Day is the following Monday, the 21st
Well crap on a stick!
That means he won't be here.
Oh wells. I'll give DS a kiss and eat a piece of chocolate so he can "enjoy" it at his next meal. LOL.
LOL!
