I have a confession

Ok, you're going to laugh at me. I already know it and it's ok.

I still sleep with a stuffed animal. Embarrassed Amazingly I have made it through 26 years of my life without ever having being weaned off my bunny. I blame my mom though. When I was little, she always pushed this pink bunny on me and wouldn't let me sleep with other stuffed animals because she bought her for me before she knew I was even a girl. So bunny has become a part of my sleep pattern.

It's not like I drag her around the house or talk to the thing. She's just part of how I sleep. But I've decided that now that I'm going to be a mom, it's time to stop sleeping with a stuffed animal.

Amazingly DH is ok with bunny. I think he thinks it's just this little quirk I have. Actually, all of my boyfriends have been ok with it.

So how should I go about this? Cold turkey? Use another pillow in place of bunny? The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, right?

Re: I have a confession

  • If you really want to get rid of the bunny, maybe it can go into the nursery so the baby can have it.

  • I slept with stuffed animals until I got out of college. I still have to sleep with a blanket or pillow in my arms to feel safe. :)

I like Vikki's idea of putting it in the nursery. A pillow may help in place of the bunny.

  • Do you hold onto bunny all night or does she sleep next to you and eventually get thrown on the floor?

  • I think it's cool that you sleep with a bunny, as opposed to like a teddy bear....  But, I'm with the put it in the nursery theory.

  • I haven't slept with an animal for years, but I tend to cuddle the edge of the quilt - I wrap it around my hand and hold onto it all night long.

  • Occasionally the child and I have been sleeping on the sectional at night and when we do, her teddy is down there and I find myself holding on to it...I love it!

No, she typically is wedged in front of me all night long since I'm a side sleeper. She kind of helps prop me up. I'm thinking a small pillow will work for awhile. My body pillow is kind of too big to be comfortable right now.
