those who've been to Hawaii
I have a coworker who is newly engaged and looking to go to Hawaii. I told him I'd enlist the help of my internet friends to find out where you went, what you'd recommend, etc. If you have any information, that would be greatly appreciated. This is for his honeymoon, so the more romantic stuff would be good. Thanks!

Does he know which island? In general, my vote for people who want a balance of everything is Maui. If they're outdoorsy, I recommend the Big Island. If they want nightlife, Oahu. And if they want seclusion, they want Kauai.
Any idea about budget?

We went to Maui, absolutely loved it. We stayed at the Hyatt and it was amazing!

a little outdoorsy combined with seclusion
We did Kauai and Big Island - 11 nights and it was around $6K if I remember correctly. We flew non-stop from Newark, NJ to Honolulu, then took a hawaiian airlines flight from there to Kauai. We used credit card points so one of the non-stop round trip tickets was comp'd. We found condo's via homeaway.com and made our own breakfast and lunch to save some $ - which was fine since we were either at the beach or doing an excursion....
The first 9 posts or so on my blog (tag honeymoon) go into deep detail of what we did. I highly recommend the Revealed books, better than any other.
