    Good morning!

What is your favorite thing about where you live? The 4 seasons. I didn't realize how much I liked them until I moved to TX for a few years. Also, everything is really green and hilly w/ lots of water...very pretty.

Last movie you went to the theater for? I went with a friend and her 4y/o to see MegaMind in 3D on Saturday. It was actually kinda cute. :)

What are you making for dinner?  We're probably just going to have left over chili. I'm going out of town tomorrow morning so I've got to pack and all tonight.

What are your must watch TV shows? I'm a bit of a TV Junkie so there are a LOT, I love my DVR! Grey's, Private Practice, Bones, One Tree Hill, Jersey Shore (yes, I know, I know), SVU, Amazing Race/Idol/DWTS when they're on.

Favorite store to shop for clothes? Kohls. They're kinda hit and miss, but I've found a lot of cute things there. I also still really like American Eagle...Ooo and Plato's Closet.

Pet peeves? Haha, I have a lot of these too. A lot of them are driving related like when people don't use their turn signals...or leave them on. People who drive slower than the speed limit. One around the house would be the way that DH leaves crumbs/cereal/shredded cheese all over the counter. Claims he doesn't see it...um ok.

What do you do for your job? Exercise horses? That's all I know! My "main job" is as an Admin Assistant (answering phones, proofing the program, recording incidents in the races, registering owner colors/stable names/ect) at the Thoroughbred race track here. It's a seasonal job (April-December) so I'm off right now. I also work part time at a private farm where I clean stalls, feed & turn out horses. This job is only 1 day a week so while the track is closed I'm exercise riding (volunteering) up at a farm that does handicap riding/working w/ at risk youth. :)

    Good morning, Luen!

How are you liking your home (you built, right?)? I absolutely love my house! We did build it and have no been here over a year. There are a LOT of things that we need to do to it still, but I'm in love. I didn't think I would become so emotionally attached to a home so quickly.

How different cities/towns have you lived in? I have lived all but 2 years of my life in/around the same city. But technically I've lived in 4 different "towns" here. Then I lived w/ DH in Waco, TX for a little over 2 years while he finished up school. So I guess 5!

What accomplishment are you most proud of? It's an old accomplishment, but it would have to be my horse. When I first got him he knew nothing about life but being a race horse. I was 16 and over the next few years trained him as a show horse. We showed all over the place, but the most exciting was when we went to Florida in Feb. '04. I brought my $2500 horse and got some ribbons against horses that easily cost 6 figures. Knowing that I never paid a trainer to ride my horse (although I took weekly lessons with a trainer on the ground) and that I got him to that level (there were Olympic riders showing there) by myself was pretty amazing.

What is your favorite way to spend a date night with you DH?  We're pretty low key, so I'd say a simple dinner out, then a movie On Demand.

what do you like about horses? I've thought about this a lot in the past few years (I wasn't riding much after my horse passed away and I seriously missed being at the barn) and I don't know that I've come up with an answer for it.  They're just really amazing animals, like other animals they love unconditionally and (I think) are great company. I also love seeing progress w/ training/temperament while working with horses. EX: When I first started my horse he was a nasty guy. He would bite/kick/pin up against a wall...every time you went to do anything with him. Within a few months he stopped and was like a totally different horse. The last few years I had him I could walk behind/under him, I could sit on him while he was lying down. It was just really neat to see the transformation.

do you plan to stay in upstate NY?  Yes, I love it here. I really just love the area and this is where my whole family is. Living in TX for 2 years really made me realize how much I love NY.

    Standard Questions:
    Name? Luen
Birthdate? April 3 And age? 25
Favorite Food? Just about anything Italian!
    Favorite Color? Green
Favorite thing about yourself? I'm always me. I don't change that or act differently for anyone. Physically? I have no idea...my eyes maybe?
Least favorite thing about yourself? That's easy and embarrassing. I have had mild/bad acne for as long as I can remember. In the past few years it had cleared up quite a bit, but this past fall it came back worse than it had in a while. I'm so sick of it.
Favorite Season and why? Fall. I love being able to wear a sweater/jeans without being freezing yet. The colors on the trees. The food/baking. I just love it!
What are you most looking forward to in 2011? 2011 is going to be interesting for us as DH is looking at making a possible career change. But short term I'm very excited about getting a puppy (he'll get here on Feb 7). I also can't wait for my BFF to come home. I moved her to San Antonio in early Nov when her BF was transferred to the Brooke Army Medical Center there after he was hit by an IED in Afghanistan. He's doing great, and they're hoping that by the end of the summer they can come home. They'll likely move in with DH and I for a few months while they look for a house of their own.
What do you think it is about the ladies on this board that make us all keep coming back? Everyone here is just so friendly and supportive. We all bonded during the wedding planning process and it's fun to keep up with what everyone is doing. :)

How did you first get involved with horses? I had been talking about it a lot so my mom bought me 3 lessons for my birthday. She thought it'd be like when I took dance lessons, last a few months and I'd lose interest. She was way wrong! How old were you? it was my 10th birthday.
How are the puppies? They are fantastic. They love that I've been home more often since I'm off work right now. I'm not sure how they're going to like having a new little (but bigger) brother here in 2 weeks. It'll be interesting in the beginning!
Any concerts coming up? Funny you should ask. Tomorrow morning I'm driving to Cleveland to pick up a friend, then we're headed to Dayton to see Rascal Flatts, Luke Bryan and Chris Young. I also have tickets for this same concert in Erie, PA on 2/17 and here in Rochester on 2/24. I'm going with the same friend, that I'm seeing tomorrow, to Indy for a Chris Young show for my birthday 4/8 also. Needless to say I'm a HUGE Chris Young fan. Stick out tongue Next week Friday DH and I are going w/ my Dad and his GF to see one of my Dad's friend's (Sean Patrick McGraw) play. He's a local guy who has lived in Nashville for a while now and is finally getting some of his music on the radio.
When is the next time you are heading to Texas? Likely not until just after Christmas again.

    Morning Smile

How did you and Chase meet? I hate this story. We met online. It wasn't a dating site, it was just some chat room where we were trying to find info to fix our computers (spyware issues).

Where was your first date? Because of how we met this is a tough question, I don't really know the answer. When he first flew up to meet me, we went either that night or the next night to dinner then a bar to see my dad's band play. So I guess that would be the first date.

Do you planning on having any babies? Yep! If so, how many? Ideally we'd like to have 1 in about 2-3 years then adopt 1 about 2-3 years after that.

  • What is your favorite type of food?

Do you prefer to shop online or go to the stores?

Whats your favorite thing to do in NY?

    Married, At Last 09.20.08
  • imagecrystal1026:

What is your favorite type of food? Italian closely followed by Chinese. DH laughs at me about both of these saying that my "ancestors would be proud" :)

Do you prefer to shop online or go to the stores? I much prefer shopping online as I don't like crowds very much nor do I like standing in line for anything...I'm not very patient. However if I can't find a coupon code for free shipping or another good deal I'll go to the store. We just go shopping at odd times. Like grocery shopping usually happens after 8PM on Friday's. :)

Whats your favorite thing to do in NY?  When the weather is nice I love to be out in my dad's boat. Between Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes there are lots of options and fun little things to do on each lake. We like to search for ship wrecks too as my dad is a diver. I also like to go hiking/walking at Letchworth State Park or down in Ithaca.

  • I love your story about re-training your retired racehorse.  I know that can take a lot of hard work!

What type of showing did you do (I'm assuming H/J)?  Do you still show?

When you have kids one day, will you let them take riding lessons?  (If M wants to, I'd like to do that for her, but DH is terrified of her getting hurt after seeing me get bucked off a couple times.)

I think it's awesome that you want to adopt a little one?  Will you adopt internationally or domestic?

How did you get involved with volunteering with the therapeutic riding school?  I'd LOVE to do this one day. :)

I love your story about re-training your retired racehorse.  I know that can take a lot of hard work! It does take a lot of hard work, but is so rewarding. My dream is to one day have a small barn in my backyard (would have to move) and retrain retired racehorses as show/pleasure horses.

What type of showing did you do (I'm assuming H/J)?  I rode primarily hunters, but because my horse was so handy I played in the Jumpers & Equitation rings too. :)Do you still show? I don't. I would like to. After my horse passed away I had a hard time finding my place again. I didn't want to be a lesson student again and I didn't have the $$ to own/lease. Right now at the barn I work at I am working with a small TB mare who had really bad feet and now has a good farrier so we're working on getting her back in shape. I hope to maybe take her to a few small shows this summer and just do the hack division for fun.

When you have kids one day, will you let them take riding lessons?  (If M wants to, I'd like to do that for her, but DH is terrified of her getting hurt after seeing me get bucked off a couple times.) If they want to, I would LOVE that. Really I'd like to have a pony in the backyard for them...w/ my OTTBs :) .... and a super bombproof horse for DH.

I think it's awesome that you want to adopt a little one?  Will you adopt internationally or domestic? Thanks! It's something I've always wanted to do, and lucky for me DH is very open to the idea as well. Right now we're looking at China. (My mom was adopted from Hong Kong) If something doesn't work out there, I am open to a domestic or other international adoption as well. My first choice is just China.

How did you get involved with volunteering with the therapeutic riding school?  I'd LOVE to do this one day. :)Really by chance. I saw an add on Craigslist that they were looking for people to exercise ride their horses a few days a week. I emailed, went for my 'riding interview' and now I've been riding there about 3 weeks. I go 3 days a week and work (ring work/lunging/trail riding) 1-3 horses each day.  It's a lot of fun because I get to ride a LOT (without having to pay for the lessons) and I had wanted to volunteer during my winter time off so this is just perfect!
