I am responsible for our next date night (next Saturday) and I have no idea.  I don't even know what I want to do especially since we are in NH and there isn't alot to do in the winter other than skiing which DH cant do since he hurt his knee

Re: in charge of our next date night...

  • Do you want to venture outside with the weather?

What about doing like a scavenger hunt through the city?  A fav spot for an app, then another for meal and another for a drink? and cards with sayings that bring up a memory from each to give him a clue where to go

Haha, this is just something I've been wanting to try to set up for DH myself :O)

  • Hannah, Great idea but I may save that for the spring when we can go into Boston and really enjoy the weather and the sites.   Quite a bit too cold and unpredictable lately

  • So true, trucking around in the cold does not sound appealing.

    Dinner and a movie?

    Bowling and dinner?

  • I was thinking dinner and bowling or.... dinner and the local theatre is having the r-rated hypnotist....however the second is a little pricey for just a date night...more of a special occasion type of date

  • Dinner and Fun World?  (It's still open, right? My brother went to Rivier, and I used to pass it all the time.)  Could be cheesy fun.  We go to the arcades at Hampton/Salisbury when we go to Newburyport (usually a couple of times a year), and we have a blast. We get SUPER competitive with each other, and make bets on skee ball and pop-a-shot.

  • We have a place called Incredible Pizza, it is a buffet with an arcade, bumper cars, lazer tag, and mini golf. I took my niece and nephew but I think it is going to be our next date night.

  • I think, after searching for ideas, have decided to take him away for the night.  When I was younger, we used to have time share at this great resort in the lakes region of NH.  It is open year round and has skiing and snow shoeing during the winter.  There is a nice restaurant on site.  The best part?  They have a ridiculous indoor pool with a water slide and hot tubs that is completely surrounded by glass overlooking the mountains.  The pool area is open for 3 hours at night where there are no kids allowed...just adult time.  My husband has been so stressed with work and commuting in this crappy weather that I think he needs to unwind.  I will bring some fantastic wine up and just reconnect since we are always so tired.  I figured it out and for one of their standard rooms, it will be only 99 for the night and we get use of the ammenities for both days we are there even if it is before check-in.  This would be cheaper than a dinner and the hypnotist show I was leaning to.  Does this sound good?

  • Wow, that sounds like a great deal, and an awesome date.

What resort is it? I may have to keep that in mind.

I was excited about this $99 deal and just let out an audible "Augggghhh ..." when I read down a few posts and saw where it was. We had the worst experience there when I took Bryan away for his birthday a couple years ago! I'm so glad to hear that you've had better times there, though!

  • I am hoping for a good time....we used to go every summer so I have been many times and always had positive experiences...now I am worried

  • Aww, I don't mean to worry you. A Knottie on my local board recommended the place and had great family experiences there for years!

One thing I'd advise is if you're in a room with a jetted/jacuzzi tub, bring a small bottle of bleach and run that first so it goes through the jets, then drain and use. Ours was spitting out red rusty stuff and we had to go all the way back into town to get stuff clean it because they were nonresponsive when we called. Also, they put us on the third floor of a building with no elevator (think it was the Steele Hill South hotel unit), so we had to schlep our bags up three flights, which wasn't too fun. If that doesn't sound like something you want to do in the dead of winter, you might ask for a first-floor room or something. We were staying for a few days and thought there would be somewhere to get ice there for our cooler, but there was not. That might not be something you're concerned with for an overnight but thought I'd mention it so you can grab a bag in town if you wanted.

    Have fun on your getaway!!

  • We are staying in the West building...that is the main one with the glass enclosed pool...I specifically made sure that building was available.  I have never stayed in the south building and we don't really use the jacuzzi in the room.  Thanks for the heads up though

  • Good to hear! Oh, and once it was clean, the jacuzzi led to a good time. Wink He still talks about it.

I didn't know anything about the buildings when I booked; now I would know better about what questions to ask!

Yep there are three....East (which is where the restaurant is), West (the best IMO because it is where the great pool is), and the South (never stayed there and not sure I want to).  West is better.  I seriously would reconsider giving it another chance.  I will let you know how we do next weekend.  Hubby came home all excited about it
