Oil Cleansing Method

I keep reading about it on F&B & MM... & I think I may give it a try. Any of you ladies use it?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

  • No...I don't like touching oil with my hands accidentally let alone slathering it willfully on my face.
  • Big ditto Madisen here.  I couldn't even read that whole article because I got grossed out.
  • I've read about it, but I wouldn't do it. I think it's just kind of silly. The concept makes sense, but you can just use a mild cleanser like cetaphil instead of slathering oil on your face.

I've used Cetaphil in the past & while I liked how soft it made my skin, it didn't do anything about my acne Sad

Now I just use it to shave my legs.

  • Right, that's my point. I don't think oil is going to do anything different. It doesn't kill bacteria or cause dryness, which are the 2 ways to fight acne.

  • The point is to steam/massage your face & open pores, thus reducing acne.

I've tried pretty much every OTC & some RX meds for my acne & nothing totally clears it up.  It gets better, but not 100% gone.

  • I'd be willing to try it, but at this point I'm willing to try anything.

I actually thought about you when I read about it since you had such problems with Benzoyl Peroxide!

  • Hmmm...I've never heard of this. So how often would you do a massage? Once a week or two? I don't usually have a problem with breakouts but I always have some stubborn blackheads on my nose. It sounds really relaxing at the very least.

  • I'm intrigued ... I just don't see how I wouldn't feel like a greasy pizza face afterward though ...

I've thought about it & I wonder if it's like baby oil. I occasionally use baby oil on my legs right after I shave instead of lotion & they end up super smooth but not greasy.
