UO Thursday!

Here's mine for the day:

Going over to the bump makes my head explode sometimes. How many tickers do you need in your siggie to let me know that you are 26 weeks pg? Maybe there needs to be a limit on how many tickers you are allowed.

I am also underwelmed by movies coming out. There sure are alot of sequels and remakes for this year. Really do we need a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 or another Transformers?

I agree about both actually! I hate that I have to freaking scroll half a page just to get through someone's siggy.

I hate HATE how movies are about every single comic book...really? Do the writers in Hollywood have no ideas left whatsoever? How many comics do they need to make into a movie, then how many sequels?

  • Slightly gross, but: Do some people really need to use a giant wad of toilet paper  that fills half the bowl to wipe away a few drops? I used the restroom at work this afternoon, and had to finish flushing for the person in there before me. If all the TP won't go down in one flush, you're using too much. At least turn around and check before you exit the stall.

  • I am strongly considering sending our kids to private schools. Public schools scare the *** out of me when I see teachers use improper spelling, make basic grammar mistakes, and can't do simple multiplication. Our education system is very poor compared to other industrialized nations.

God forbid people make mistakes. Are you perfect? Have you never made a grammar mistake? Have you ever messed up something on a spread sheet? Spelling error? Never?

Hahahaha yeah, my husband has always said either we'd homeschool or send to a private school. Or the school where I work.

I do think that private school educations are overrated, though. There's no real way of knowing what's going on there, since they don't have to be tested (not that I'm saying standardized testing is the be-all, end-all) but they usually do offer great networking.

I am from up north where private schools are more common. I never went to public school. In ok, private schools are" different" - I don't know how to express it. I would love to send my kid to a diverse, challenging school.

  • H's coworker asked him to sponsor his daughter's softball team. We agreed, thinking that we would just donate some cash and be done with it since there were several other sponsors. Apparently not, because co-worker handed H a bill for the whole team's uniforms along with a signed thank you card addressed to him and a picture of all the girls with personal messages. The bill was over $800. I was PISSED. Don't do it Allison. Donate a $20 and call it a day.

I agree to an extent. There are teachers (I am friends with a LOAD of them on fb... this is a personal testament) within our public and private school system that leave a lot to be desired. If you are misspelling simple words and teach 7th grade English, guess what? I will give you the side eye.

With that said, teaching does not stop once your kids leave school. Responsibility lies within the home as well, I am a strong advocate of sitting down at the dinner table/family room and helping a child with their daily school lessons.

  • Ugh. DH invited his sis and BIL on our Bavarian vacation without asking me. I was really looking forward to a getaway with just the two of us and don't really know sis and BIL that well.

I told him that I wanted to make sure we planned at least a couple of nights to ourselves (which I'm sure he's fine with) and I guess the upside is that this is a good chance to get to know my SIL and BIL better if they decide to go. They seem like pretty fun people (though it's really hard for me to read my SIL sometimes.)

  • I am going to have to remember to only click reply to the op so my unrelated posts don't get deleted when people dd. It is annoying.
