Re: Extreme Home Makeover in Middleburg

  • I just can't get behind Extreme Makeover.  Too many stories with the families subsequently going into foreclosure.
  • How on EARTH do they tear it down & build a new one in 7 days?!

I've never really watched this show before for the reasons LB mentioned.

I'm not a big fan just because it doesn't make sense to me. You want to move them into a nice house somewhere, fine. But building this amazing house on the same plot of land where it's surrounded by trailers (not that I'm judging trailers at all), it just doesn't make sense. If you did decide to sell that house, the people that have the money to buy it wouldn't be buying in the area the house was in.

  • The one they did in Pensacola awhile back was just an empty lot when they started. The owner of the land donated it and hundreds of people came out to help. The house is huge. A local Credit Union donated something like $250k to use as an upkeep fund. They also found the guy a job in the field he wanted. He was working in a lunch room at a high school. It was a nice story, until you found out he was behind on his child support and other stuff. I'm not a huge fan of the show but I kept up on his story since it was local.

I agree with this too.  Why would you make it virtually impossible like that for them to ever sell the house?

The whole idea is just a cluster.  Not a fan.

  • I'm not a big fan for those reasons already mentioned, but... confession.... I totally applied for a spot to photograph the family to promote my business. Embarrassed They didn't pick me, though.

  • I am not a fan. I understand helping people, but giving them something that they can not afford the annual expenses for is dumb. The extreme make over house that they did in Palatka is currently in foreclosure.
