I renewed my license online on November 1st. It said it could take up to 6 weeks to get in the mail. Huh? But okay, fine. It's now been 11 weeks and I still have an expired license.
I know the logical thing is to go into the DMV and ask what's up, but isn't that the whole point of being able to renew online--to save you from having to go in? And the money has been taken out of my checking and clearly says "License renewal-$30". So it's paid for, has been over the allotted time, and it's not here.
Husband had to go to the DMV for something else today and when I asked him to see if he could find anything out, he got all snappy and told me to just come with him. Grr. I'm just grumpy about this. I tried to allow for delays because of holidays in November and December, but I'm getting fed up.
Re: I'm so irritated with the DMV (how surprising)
I had an issue with my DL renewal and it took 3 months for it to get to me.
Have you tried calling them? I'd start there. Although they are usually closed on Fridays I think.
In the end, it took me 4 phone calls, and 2 DMV visits to get it straightened out but it was because of an address issues (they changed my street but not my city and no one caught on even when I recited my complete address to them on the phone or in person).
Good luck!

I'm serious when I say the Oregon DMV is one of the reasons to move here...it's SO much easier to deal with, workers are FRIENDLY! (shocking!) and the lines aren't bad at all! They even have "Express" offices!!
People still complain about it, here, but I tell them it's nothing in comparison to the horror that is the CA DMV!!! : )

DH just renewed his at the DMV and was told that it would take at least 45 to 60 days to get it. As long as you have the receipt showing you renewed your license it's okay.
OH and we went to the new DMV office in Lodi and it seriously took us 10 minutes from arrival to departure to renew his license and everyone was super nice!
I was going to post the same thing. My DH had the same issue getting his DL in the mail, it took just as long or longer to come in, but he finally got it and the new one is pretty spiffy looking. Its going to be quite difficult to make fake's of it, it seems.

If you do not have a temporary paper license you should really walk into the DMV and get one printed out. If you are driving with an expired license and you hand it over there are infractions (fines) associated with that, even in your situation.

I renewed mine at the end of November and I'm still waiting too. I was told that it's taking months to get the new license in the mail. In fact, the guy from the DMV hotline that I talked to said he renewed his at the end of October and still doesn't have it and is on his second temporary license.
I second the recommendation that you get a temporary license - you don't want to get pulled over driving on an expired license.

Good to know! My husband renewed his (via mail) early January. I told him the same thing - that we'd be lucky to see it by the end of February when it expires and I might as well make him an appointment at the DMV now to get a temp license next month...
Maybe there's hope yet!
Wow, that's awesome! I'm still waiting. I have my temporary one but I've been told I'll be lucky to get it by the end of Feb (I renewed 11/2010)
