Urgent fashion question!

Alright, I leave tomorrow morning for a quick trip to Ft. Myers, FL and I have no idea what to pack!

It's a partially business trip for H. We are hanging out with some of his clients on their boat, so swim suit and cover-ups are obvs. But what else is allowable in January in FL?

Temps will be 70- 75 during the day and 40s at night. Can I wear white pants? I feel like a fashion dumb a$$ right now!

Re: Urgent fashion question!

  • LMAO, as soon as I clicked on this and was waiting for it to load, I was thinking, WTF do I know about fashion? Why did I even click?

That being said, I think you're good with white pants.

    Have fun!

  • Okay, so I live in the other area of the country where it is in the 70s during the day and 40s at night, and I have to say that seeing white pants in Jan drives me nuts.  I know that fashion rules don't really apply, but I can't let that one go.

It'll sound cliche, but layers are your friend.  Since there's such a swing in the day-night temps, as soon as the sun goes down, you're going to want a jacket.  What about cute jeans and tops with optional jackets?  Or leggings with tunics/dresses, and throw a sweater on at night.

Haha! That's what I was thinking about myself, too.

I'm a layer-er. In this kind of weather, I like to wear jeans and short-sleeved or sleeveless sweaters, with a jacket or cardigan for when the sun goes down.

Thanks Meghaan! I'll nix the white pants Wink  Besides, tunics and leggings are way more comfortable.

    Are shorts frowned upon too?

I know, I feel the same way! I used to be pretty on trend. When did I turn into a frumpy housewife? Crying

  • If you've got the legs for shorts (which I'm sure you do), and it's warm enough for you to be comfy, then go for it!  I don't really do shorts, but for me, it's like flip flops, which I wore last weekend.

Just wait til third trimester...I haven't taken over poor DH's sweatshirts!!

I think white pants are fine on a boat.  I wish some of the FL girls were around to give you some good advice!

  • I put my white pants away for the winter... probably until March. For us in FL, we think 60's is all out winter. haha Anyhow, I'm totally a wuss with the cold and I wear a sweater and pants everyday and throw on a coat and scarf at night. However, there are a lot of people walking around during the day in shorts, capris, short sleeved shirts, so if you think it's warm, then go for it! I would definitely bring things to layer though, because as you already stated our days start cold, get warm for a few hours, and then get cold again. Oh, and it will be much colder out on the water, especially with the breeze, so I would suggest taking a jacket of some sort on the boat.

  • I like the idea of leggings and tunics, comfy and cute. I think walking shorts and a cute top would be a great idea too, maybe a jacket over the top for the morning and night.

  • Obviously way late, but glad Meghann said ixnay on the white pants. No no!

    Have a great time!
