Ugh so now that I finally have a moment to post about this.. It's been so crazy at work this week since we lost two people last week. It will be another 3 weeks until the new temps are trained. Anyways..
So this morning DH left around 8:30 for work, I normally leave around 10:15ish. I go out at 10:10 to start my car and get it warmed up... Yeah didn't start. DH had left my lights on since oh about 1:00pm yesterday. UGHHH
So DH has started class.. can't call him. I try mom's cell she doesn't answer. So onto calling AAA (thank you IL's for the wonderful xmas gift last year!). AAA says it will be about 45min. Ok I call work let them know that I will be late, don't know how late though.. i feel so bad becasue it was just last week that I was out sick for two days.
AAA finally comes (about 5 min after my mom got home from her hair cut). he tries the "box" thing that is portable.. nope nothing, so he has to acutally pull out the jumper cables and jump me. And of course tells me let it run for AT LEAST 30-45 min. So I leave my car running in the driveway and thankfully my mom offered to drive me to work so I wouldn't be as late. Got to work finally 30min late.
Ugh so now I think I'm going to have to suck it up and get the "dinger" fixed. You know how the car dings if you leave the keys in the ignition or leave the lights on.. well it doesn't "ding" anymore when that happens. Thus we have done this 4 times now. This is the only time it has been really bad though.
I am trying so hard to put as little money into this car as possible since it is 11yrs old. We really are hoping to get one more year out of it before we have to get a new car. Hopefully the rest of today and the weekend will be better!
And holy crap that was long.

That is awful! I am so sorry! I can tell you a story to try and cheer you up...
I didn't get my first car until the end of my senior year, the very end. It was the last day of school and I was finally able to drive my own car to school. It was a rainy day, so of course I had my lights on. I drove to school, parked, and went to go take my finals. When I was done with finals, I came out to go home, got in my car to start it, and nothing! No lights came on, it wouldn't turn over, nothing. I realized that I had left my lights on all day but I was too mortified to tell anybody the truth. I called my dad to come get me and he jumped my car and we took it home. Turns out I didn't have a dinger either. I also locked my keys in that car more times that I'd like to admit.

The single greatest story was again something my H did back when we were dating. We were goign to a movie with BIL and his ex FI. DH was driving. Well we get to the theater everyone piles out of the car. And we start walking away... I happened to glance back and see exhaust coming out of the tailpipe of my car. So I asked DH about it.. umm yeah he totally locked the keys in the car while it was running... Not really sure how that one happens. It's not like he was going back and forth between the house and the car or something and did it without thinking. No he parked and never even turned the car off before getting out. That is my wonderful, though completely absent minded DH.
ETA: To this day I still ask him everytime we get out of the car if he has the keys.

I have totally locked my keys in my car when it was running. I did that back in high school. I was somewhere I wasn't supposed to be and had to call my dad to come unlock the door with the spare key. DH locked my keys in my car after starting it to warm up the other day. He hit the lock button the keyless remote when he turned the key in the ignition, got out and shut the door. Luckily the spare key was in the kitchen so I got in no problem.
T - my coworker recently did something just like your hubby but worse! He drove to work, put the car in park, got out, went into work and accidentally left the car running all day....8 hours! We still haven't let him forget it!
Sorry you had such a crappy morning.
Thats hysterical!
T- I hope your day has improved!
