Really Facebook? Really?

Two facebook gripes:

Number One: As I go to eat my delicious lean pocket for lunch the other day I see I can find Lean Pockets on Facebook.  What in the world can the lean pockets company possibly post?  "We have a new flavor-check it out!"  I can find that out by looking in the freezer at the grocery store.  I know they are just following what society is doing, but IMO lean pockets do not need to be on FB.

Number Two:  My cousin and/or his wife just made a FB page for their 6 year old daughter.  I think the primary motivation is so they can have her as a friend for farmville (does that still go on?) or frontierville or one of those games where they try to get all of your friends to play.  I'm pretty sure FB has a requirement that you have to be 13 or something.  I haven't received a friend request yet, but I will definitely NOT be accepting.  That is just ridiculous.  And for that I shake my fist at my cousin, not facebook.  It's not FB's fault he is an idiot.

ETA;  Even though I am griping about FB, I am working on making some of you ladies my FB friends!

Re: Really Facebook? Really?

  • So one of DH's aunts is letting her 8 year old on facebook.  okay, whatever.  But the 8 year old is facebook crazy.  I'm just mad I didn't block her from just about everything sooner.

Then I look on SIL's facebook page yesterday- said Aunt posted on SIL's wall saying "Please except Sally's friend request! She really wants to be friends with you!"

Lord.   Sorry not everyone wants an 8 year old to see all their conversations with their adult friends.

  • Yikes! In general I think children are exposed to too much technology. My 10-year-old niece has an iTouch...I just don't see a need for that.

And I agree with Emily, I don't want a child to read what I write to my friends..not that it's inappropriate, but there's no reason she needs to see it.

I think I saw your name pop up on FB, I shall find you :)
