HI everyone, i know this is the 9-5 post but i'm wondering if you could all help me out with ideas. I am in the process of planning my 10 year high school class reunion. We never had a 5 yr so i'm completly stumped on where to have it, what kind of activities to do, etc. If you've had a reunion where did you have yours and what did you do? Did you like it? Also, if you have heard any other cool suggestions i would love to hear them. TIA! Hope ya'll are having a wonderful Friday!

Re: Class Reunion?
Keep it as low cost as possible.
FInd a very local restaurant and have a hot and cold buffet -- or have a "drop in and come as you are blue jeans" class reunion.
These events can get costly -- keep it low cost and you'll have more attendees.
I just had my 20 year reunion...it was at a local restaurant/pub. You paid $50/person but this came with unlimited drinks and appetizers. All they had as far as "entertainment" was a slide show of old pictures. About 2 months before the reunion the people organizing it asked for everyone to send in pictures they had from high school and then they put these pictures into a slide show.
They organized all of this through facebook too.
My 5 year was at a bar (fun), my 10 year was at a hotel (lame). I remember the 5 year had no cost but I can't remember the cost of the 10 year.
I didn't go to my 10 year reunion. It was at a local bar and was expensive, IMO! It was $50 and that only got you appetizers. It was a cash bar. Sooo not worth it. It was over Thanksgiving weekend anyway and it was our year to be with the ILs out-of-state so I couldn't go.
My 15 year reunion was this past summer and it was canceled due to lack of interest. It was pretty much the same thing - a different local bar/restaurant, $50, appetizers only, cash bar. I didn't plan on going to this one because I just had foot surgery and didn't want to be on crutches there.
I think with Facebook, everyone is in touch with everyone already. Reunions aren't such a big deal anymore. My suggestion would be to make it more affordable and more people would go. $100 is a lot to spend for a night with just appetizers for 2 people.
For my 10 year, we had a tent set up at the high school's homecoming game on Friday. We had snacks, and everyone brought their kids.
The next morning, there was a breakfast in our old high school cafeteria (nothing big - muffins, fruit, doughnuts, etc), and everyone brought their family to see where we went to school - we walked down the halls and talked about old times. A few of our old teachers showed up, too.
Saturday night was adults only at the local country club. Buffet style food, a DJ, and cash bar. We also had a table set up with candles and pictures of classmates that we've lost, and there was a slide show on the back wall going with old pictures that everyone sent in advance.
The cost was $35/person or $60/couple. It covered the cost of the food (Saturday morning & night), dj, country club, and bar tender. No one complained, we had a great turn out, and it was a blast.
I've got more issues than a magazine
My best friend and I somehow ended up planning ours. Not sure how that happened.
We used a ballroom at a local conference center, had a catered buffet, DJ, dancing, etc. and then there was an informal after-party at a local hang out by our old school. I remember having raffles, but I can't remember if it was for things like traveled furthest or just pulling names.
I think a lot will depend on where you live, how big your class is, etc. We ran a poll to choose the type of event to hold. Good luck!
