Feeling sad

I just found out that one of my best friends' husbands is thinking about leaving her and their three little girls.  This is my second friend's husband to do this to her in the past few months.  It makes me want to cry.  Sorry, just had to get that out.

Re: Feeling sad

  • I am sorry to hear that :(  I will keep them in my thoughts and hope that things will get better and that he doesn't leave his family. Hang in there.

  • Oh, that's awful.  I don't blame you for being upset about it.  Hope they're able to work things out.

  • I don't know what you mean when you say "thinking about leaving her" (that sounds so casual Sad) but I hope they make the best desicion for themselves and their children.  (((Hugs))) to you!

  • That's rotten. :( I hope they are able to work it out.

Its odd because both husbands told my friends that "they never really were in love and they felt pressured to get married."  I think they are both going through mid-life crises and maybe some depression.  One is in a band that is starting to get really popular and the other's younger brother died suddenly a couple months ago (the one I just found out about).  DH and I both really like the guys and I thought they both had strong enough marriages to overcome anything like this.  I guess psychological factors can really mess you up.

Yuck, that just pisses me off.

That would be a horrible reason to end a marriage, unless he really was never in love in the first place.  Even then, seems cowardly.

  • My SIL left her husband last year and it was a total shock to me, my husband, and everyone else in the world.  She seemed to have a little midlife (even though she's only 24) crisis of her own and she also said didn't really love him.  DH and I both really liked (and still like) her husband.  Thankfully, there were no kids involved though.

It's really, really hard when someone close to you goes through something like this.  It sucks.  As everyone on this board probably knows, their marriage falling apart was hard on me too.

If you want to talk, let me know.  *hugs*

  • I've been there. Seems to be a quarterlife crisis. My XH just sort of bailed on his life. Looking back, I don't think I ever thought about why we were getting married - we were just high school sweethearts and that's what we were expected to do. I know a lot of friends who experienced similar feelings. Some stuck it out though. That's why I am not a fan of marrying young. At the same time, everyone has to make their own path.
  • I'm very sorry to hear about this.  Sad

  • It is hard. We have also had a couple of divorces close to us and I have taken it very personally. Thinking of you and your friends.
