WTF, husband. You're gross.

So when we were registering the FI said to me, we don't need to register for a slow cooker because my mom got me one in college.  He told me which kind it was and it's a good brand, size, etc. so we didn't register for one.  But in the five years we've been together I haven't seen it out of its box until today.

I'm making a kind of potato corn chowder thing for dinner in the slow cooker, so I find the box, pull it out, and OMG.  WTF.

I never saw him use it, so that means he hasn't used it in about six years.  And the last time he put it away, he freaking didn't wash it.  That's right.  He did not wash it.

It was rinsed out, but there was still significant residue in there from whatever he made.  Some kind of bacon chili by the smell.  It wasn't just in the ceramic insert part either, it was all encrusted on the front of the slow cooker and the inside metal part was filthy too.  How does that even happen?

So I hope he's going to enjoy the 9:30pm dinner because it took me forever to clean that thing before I could actually assemble the meal.  He was already in the doghouse before this, too. Hmph.

He'd better do something nice for me on Valentine's Day.

I would have done the same thing!

...there were lots of things that DH convinced me not to register for, that I now wish we had!

Agreed! I hate when H says he'll do the dishes and then once they're dry I see all of the grease or whatever that he didn't get off.  It's like he puts them in soapy water and just swishes them around, no scrubbing.

  • It's definitely a guy thing. H has this little grille he LOVES to make himself burgers on. The cooking parts come off to stick in the dishwasher, but grease and things still drip on the other parts. Most of the time he leaves it out on the counter, UNCLEANED. Like, just wash it off!

SAME. That would have been in the trash lol.

  • I wouldn't have thrown it out. I would have ordered pizza and told DH to clean the damn thing himself. :P

  • Haha, well I found out when he got home that it's only been stuck on there since the first time he was in Miami which was... IDK, one and a half years?

  • I would have so thrown it out!  Or made him clean it and ordered dinner lol.  Oh boy that's still bad!  But better than the 6 year alternative!

  • This whole thread made me LOL.

Panda, you're a much better woman than I - I totally would've thrown that mf-er out (the crock pot, not my husband. Just so we're clear).

    How did dinner turn out??

  • It turned out ok.  I didn't care for the recipe in the end, but H liked it.

  • Eek! That's pretty gross. Lucky for me, H worked in kitchens in high school and he's a real stickler for dish-washing. Usually I'm the one that does a less than stellar job - but not leaving crap on a dish for over a year. Yikes!

ps I love having a dishwasher (the appliance, not my husband).
