I did ours on TaxACT online and submitted them Thursday. I got an email yesterday saying Federal was rejected because DH'd birthday did not match their records. I double checked and it was correct, plus is was accepted and OK for CA taxes. Then our CA were rejected because DH's adjusted gross income did not match their records (for the signature part to make sure it's really him) but it was OK and accepted for the Federal return. WTH!
I remember having the problem with DHs birthday and TaxACT last year and I think we just used another program and it went through, anyone have any other online tax ideas we can try? We will probably just print the CA ones so he can actually sign it instead of dealing with the AGI but I hate waiting for the refund. Why does this have to be so complicated?!
Re: Taxes are annoying me...anyone else?
That does suck. We're in the process of doing them now. We have an accountant back home in New York so we're doing a lot of emailing. There's no way we could do them ourselves this year. We lived in NJ and CA, my old job screwed up how they did my paperwork and had me living in NY (because I lived there for 2 weeks when I first started working there 2 1/2 years ago), so we have to declare 3 residences in NJ, NY, and CA. We have so many write offs for school and our move AND I worked as a consultant for 4 months so they need to calculate the taxes I owe on that income and write off all of my expenses for that.
It's so much work and we'd definitely mess it up if we did it ourselves. I hate to see what our bill from him is going to be.

Ugh, I hate doing taxes!
wldtz, I feel your pain. I too lived in three states in the year that I moved to California: pain in the ass!
We finally started paying someone to do ours and it's so worth it. I can't remember how much they take, but it's really not a lot.
We are about to do them. We prefer Turbo Tax than any other tax program.
We were looking into someone doing it for us, but ours are pretty simple. Once we buy a house, then we will have someone do our taxes.
Ditto, ours are pretty basic (but we do have more than one w-2 each) and it's about $120. Totally worth the piece of mind that they are filed properly IMO.
h has always paid someone to do his but his are complicated by the fact that he owns his own business. he sometimes swaps services ie he loads all the latest and greatest game patches to his tax lady's kid's computer or troubleshoots thier gaming tower in exchange for her doing his taxes.
imo its always better to pay someone to do your taxes if you own property, have kids, get 1099s b/c you're an independant contractor or are self employed.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
One of the perks of being married to an accountant is never having to do our taxes myself.
Because we itemize we have to wait for all of the correct forms to come out. Right now DH is just having fun, he loves this stuff, plugging everything into TurboTax and watching the numbers work their "magic" (his words, not mine).
