I am in the market for a new camera before vacation. I don't need anything super fancy, I am not a huge picture taker but do like to have a nice camera for when the time arises that I do want to take nice photos. I currently have a pretty nice camera but it has a bad delay and is about 5 years old.
Thanks!!

Re: Recommend your Camera...
I have the Canon SX210 and I love it. It takes really good pictures that are sharp even when zoomed. The video quality is also really good, and it has lots of features. You can set it for smile recognition and it will only take a picture if the subject is smiling (tested it and it really does work). The only negative feature is that when you turn the camera on the flash pops up on the left, and it is in in a spot where I would otherwise put my finger to hold the camera. But you get used to it, and before long learn not to put your finger there. I promise you'll love this camera!

I would recommend either a Nikon or a Canon....I did research before the holidays when my camera broke on the plane ride to Aruba for our hm. They get the best reviews by users and critics. Nikon Coolpix are great cameras that don't break the bank

I've always been a fan of the Canon Power Shot series (I've had 2, each of my parents have one, and DH has one also) - they're easy to use, have lots of good features (i.e: facial recognition, so if you're taking a pic and it sees faces it'll zoom in a part of the screen on those so you can make sure the faces are not awful before you click the shutter)...
Their current "best value" one is the A3100IS is 12.1 megapixels, and is under $110 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A3100IS-Stabilized-Silver/dp/B0032JRRXE/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1296321606&sr=1-6
Thanks Ladies! My friend just said that she has a Canon Power Shot sx130 IS.
She just got it for Chrismas and hasn't messed with it much but likes it so far, I read a few reviews and seems like an option for me. It just seems really big.
Kenna-what camera did you use on your Honeymoon? Your pictures were awesome!
A camera that does everything: The new fujifilm waterproof, drop proof, smash proof is great, took awesome pics all around.
A better camera that's only normal: Cannon Powershot... love this little point and shoot.
Canon has the best color saturation around, with Nikon being a close second (go to the electronics section and take a picture with like 5 different brands of cameras of something vivid, like a red sign, you'll notice a big difference)

The powershot 14.1 for $200 (+$25 4 gig card) is the best little pocket camera I've found for the price... I didn't want to take my dslr equipment to Costa Rica, and this littlecamera was superb

It has a lot of super neat functions to play around with (like a miniature mode - making a mountain side look like model), but it's auto-mode is also super smart and fast in judging the best mode for the given light settings. It's movie mode is also amazing quality (don't tell DH, as he just bought us a flip-camera, which is awesome, but I think I prefer the video quality on the Canon)
Hope this helps!!
I absolutely love my Casio Exilim. I had a z750, and upped to the z850 before the wedding.

It's great, and also fairly small. I carry a wristlette with my wallet and my camera in it. It has several settings (which auto adjust for things like sunset/candle light, fast shutter speed for pets/water/anything quick, and night pictures) and also does audio and video.

MARRIED 10.10.10 !!
October 2010 Siggy Challenge - walking down the aisle!
Awww, thanks
Our the honeymoon we used a combo of my Powershot 8-something, DH's powershot 1100IS, and my Canon Rebel EOS (which is a SLR, large bodied camera)... I've been thinking about upgrading my Powershot, since so many fun new features and modes are available now (i.e.: Fireworks mode, aquarium mode) - you only have to use them once to be happy they were available to you!
And the winner is.......
Thanks Em!! It is super small which makes me a little nervous, but the quality is awesome!!
