Cleaning Microfiber Couch ?

We usually get Stanley Steemer to come out and clean our couch, but money is tight.  Have any of you ever taken the upholstered covers off their cushions and washed them yourself?  Our couch is microfiber, I believe and can't find any tags with cleaning instructions.  Have any tips?  TIA!

Re: Cleaning Microfiber Couch ?

  • My mother used Resolve carpet cleaner.  It works great and she never had a problem with bleeding color. I would spot check first of course.  Her cushions were sewn to the couch, so washing was not an option.

  • We have a microfiber sectional and just washed our covers a couple weeks ago. I washed them on low gentle cycle and dryed them on delicate, no problems at all and they washed up good as new! I was so worried about them shrinking but no issues at all. If you just want to remove spots here and there blotting with baby wipes is good for that. Hope that helps! =0)
  • Thank you!

I have two little kids and a dog.  There's a lot more than spot cleaning needed!  LOL.  I want to throw it all in the wash so badly....just chicken to do it!  It worked out for you though so maybe....

  • I washed ours about a month ago! I took all the covers off and washed them on the cold, delicates cycle. I was worried about shrinking and them losing shape, so I didn't dry them in the dryer. I just put them right back on the cushions damp, and let them dry that way. Our couch looks new again!

  • Drying them didn't seem to shrink at all, I did check on them in 10 min intervals though. =0) I have two kids as well and it's almost impossible to keep the couch clean but I am very happy with the results from washing them and will continue to do so.
  • washed ours too and was super nervous but they turned out perfect!  I aired dry to be extra cautious.
