Odd combination, I know. On the Grandma front, they fused her spine fractures back together, and since it was a rough procedure (I don't understand it and don't want to, stuff like that makes me sick to my stomach), she was very sore and tired for the next 24 hours. Mom called her last night while I was over, and she sounds like the Grandma I remember - chipper, back to her normal bright self! So, thank you so much for the vibes - we've proven again that they definitely work!
On the gun front, we (dad and I) went to a gun shop yesterday that's just opening. The officer that owns it said he thinks I would do well with a Taurus Judge (holds .45 and .410's - shot gun power in a 6 shot revolver), and just happened to have his on him. After unloading it, he handed it to me. It's surprisingly light, even when it's loaded (he let me load it to see the difference). Classes are offered there, and he said since I wanted to practice or test out with it before I purchased it, he'd make sure I got in his class and could use it a few times to see what I thought. The classes are a 2 part thing, the first part being complete gun safety and care (basically a brush up on what I already know), and part 2 is what to do when someone breaks into your home - this is broken in half, one half teaches what to do if you're single or living with one other person, the second half teaches what to do if you have children and have to get to them before the intruder does. My only issue is the gun is a little more than I have to spend on the matter, especially since this particular gun is in the high $500 range, and the class costs $185. Dad says since it means our safety, he'll help us out and we can pay them back. Even mom's taking these classes, and she hates guns.
So, thanks on all fronts for the vibes and advice! Just in case you wanted to see it, here's the Judge: http://www.taurususa.com/video-theJudge.cfm
Re: Combining fu's - grandma and guns
My gun is a Taurus. I am glad that you found something you like, and personally I think revolvers are Bad@ss!!
Glad your grandma is doing well!
Glad your Grandma is back to her ole self!
I think the investment in the gun and the classes is a very smart thing. Even if it is a little bit more than you wanted to spend it is a very good investment.
