working moms

How do you handle the morning routine with a baby. I am not a morning person and it takes me a while to get up and I am not very organized in the morning. How much does your so do?

Re: working moms

  • Right now our routine is great. But when she was an infant, not going to lie, it was pretty hectic. With her sleep pattern she would generally wake around 4:30 or 5:00. I would feed her and then put her back to bed. If she didn't want to sleep then DH would take over. I would use that time to get showered and dressed. After I was done I would get her ready for daycare while DH was getting ready for work. Some mornings went more smoothly than others.

  • Not gonna lie...the first year was a little rough. The first nine months, my sister was living with me, so that was a HUGE help. JJ was an amazing sleeper and usually let me sleep until 6 with only one feeding in the middle of the night. I would usually get up at 6, get ready for work, and he'd wake up at 6:30 ready for a bottle. Since I was already good to go for work, I'd just focus on him until we had to leave the house at 7:45. When JJ would sleep in later, my sister would take over and keep him until later in the day.

I'm definitely NOT a morning person, either - even after two years of JJ being a morning person, I'm still not a morning person. I kinda have to give myself a pep talk the night before to say, "OK, you gotta get up at 6:30, make it happen." True story. Coffee and sleeping on weekends have helped me recover. :P

  • I'm pretty lucky as my husband helps out A LOT.  There are mornings when I have to leave before 6 so he obviously gets the little one up and gets him to my grandma's.  But my son normally wakes up around 7:30.

The main thing I would suggest is to try to get everything done the night before.  I have everything I need for me and him either by the door or already in the car.

Says who? We've got plenty of working moms.

The first month back to work was crazy! And that was just getting me and him up and fed! I didn't have to take him anywhere because my sister kept him, but it was still hectic. Now I get up and get ready, except for my clothes, wake him up, feed him, change him, and stick him in the bouncer while I put my clothes on and get our bags ready. DH leaves before me (or did until he reported for duty in Tx) so he wasn't much help.

The length of a minute depends on which side of the bathroom door you are standing on! Photobucket
What do you mean that's the wrong side? Tastes great to me!
