I'm 99% sure I'm going to be offered a job that I interview for last Friday. If I get the job, it means I have to go car shopping pretty much immediately (I work in NYC right now so I take public transportation to work everyday so I've been putting off buying a car for as long as possible), and MH and I will be moving to be closer. So... needless to say, this job means A LOT of major changes will be happening quickly.
The HR woman told me she will be calling this week. I am SO impatient. I know I just have to wait but it's killing me. After I sent my resume, I got a response back in two hours saying "our HR person will contact you for an interview." She took a whole week to schedule the interview and booked it a week later than that. So it's been already a three week process (which I know in the scheme of things is really not a long time AT ALL) but I just want the offer letter so I can get the ball rolling on all of the other parts. I guess this is a just a vent about how impatient I am lol.
Is anybody else this crazy waiting to hear about a job offer?
Re: Wishing I were a more patient person
Amen to that sister! I feel your pain. I am in a similar position. However, I have to wait for the person to retire! I guess they are trying to convince him that retirement is imminent. This job has better benefits, pay, and hours than the one I currently have. Working at my job now is getting very irritating since it isnt something I really care to do. Maybe we need some yoga classes or something to help give us patience. Until then, good luck and hang in there
Waiting is hard. But I would keep my mind off it by continuing to search for jobs.
I've had "sure thing" jobs fall through for various reasons that had nothing to do with me and were out of both my and the hiring manager's control.
Nothing is ever definite until the offer letter is in your hands.
I feel your pain too!!! I have been told as soon/if as a position is approved I will be getting a promotion! I have been waiting 2.5 weeks for the position to be approved and still pending
I hate waiting but I guess it's all part of it!! I work in HR and it always takes so long to get everything in order before we make offers so i'm sure they are working on it.
Best of luck!!!
I have a job now. I actually wasn't job hunting but my "dream job" came along and I wanted to give it a shot. If it doesn't happen... no harm... I can still be okay doing what I've been doing. The new job is a very exciting opportunity though and I'm peeing my pants waiting for the formal offer.
In the words of Tom Petty, "The waaaaaaiting is the hardest part."
Start looking at cars and checking out towns you'll want to move to. Will it get your hopes up unnecessarily? Sure. But it'll help pass the time
