Re: isn't this ridiculous??

  • completely infuriating.

If I start elaborating I may not stop, so I'll leave it at completely infuriating.

  • Yes, says the mom of an almost 3 year old boy who only uses the potty to poop and a few times during the day when we prompt him and put him on ourselves.  8 times in a month is not that many at all for a 3 year old.  This poor kid will forever show up in google searches as the girl who pees her pants.
  • Ridiculous!  8 times a month is a problem for a 3-year-old?  Consider how many times you go to the bathroom a month.  8 times is still a low accident rate.

Note to self: do not consider this preschool for my children.  :-P

  • :o(  poor little girl!!  That is so dumb.  I was reading about Montessori's recently and apparently it's not uncommon practice to do this in their schools??  Not sure if this is true, but man is that ridiculous!

  • ""Fast track," another controversial early-training method in which a child is saturated with drinks and then placed on the pot, is also growing in popularity."

Really? Is this what we've come to? Oh my. Poor kid.

  • Erin I was thinking the same thing, that is so dangerous for someone who may not read all the "directions" and just pumps liquids into their kid!

I feel for this family... the boys will be two in April and we haven't even thought about it and probably won't try until June when I am home with them, but I can foresee a lot of accidents!

  • This article makes me want to throat punch the people who run this preschool... it also makes me thankful that I don't live in the greater DC area where the tuition is $837 a month! Indifferent

  • I don't have a kid, but the idea that a child (who cleans herself up and changed her own clothes, no less) having an accident will distract the other three year olds from their academics made me snort a little Diet Coke out my nose.  It's preschool, not Harvard.  Plus, I'd wet myself too if I were as stressed out as I bet that little girl was.
  • So much of potty training theory historically is to actively work to avoid "elimination shame" -- and what have they done here???  It blows my mind.

jgreg -- I can't believe that this is a county policy!  Is this the price that's paid for some of the best academic programs in the country?
