CRAZY DAY AND NIGHT.
Pearl and Ethel have been with us for almost exactly a month. They've slept in the same pen, they've been together 24/7, velcro dogs to each other. FF to last night right before I got home from karaoke, Don texted flipping the fuuk out that they had just gotten into a dogfight. They were both covered in blood and both had small puncture wounds on their faces. We tried not to freak too much and brushed it up to both of them being all out of sorts from the break in.
Oh yeah and btw? Potential adopting parents are coming TODAY at noon. Perfect timing to completely change your behavior, ladies.
So the girl and her husband come today and Pearl and Ethel got into massive (IMO) fights twice in half an hour. Like latched on to each other and wouldn't let go, Pearl hanging onto Ethel in midair. Obviously adopting girl was like WTF? I'm not taking them both like this. They hate each other!
So long story short, they took Ethel and we still have poor old Pearl (who seemed to be the instigator). Oh and we leave for Mexico this week. So the rescue is (hopefully) organizing for someone to take her to foster her now and we'll probably get her back indefinitely until she is adopted alone once we get back.
It's just been effing crazy. Poor Pearl. ![]()
Re: Pearl & Ethel Update - Good news and bad news
OMG! That's crazy! I wonder what sparked the sudden behavioral change!
Glad Ethel found a home & I hope Pearl does too!
Did the rescue give you a back up plan?
awww I like Jodi's reasoning. haha
PS, I said something to Dave a bit ago along the lines of, "I just can't believe it. Pearl is just SO SWEET and loving.. Like, as loving as Cla--" ...and then I stopped, because Clancy IS a total lover, and hates other dogs. lol. But still, Pearl never seemed that way (you know, in my 20mins of experience with her. lol)... I really thought that Ethel just snuck up on her and she snapped, but I don't think they'd keep going at it like that if that's all it was. Too bad there wasn't a nanny-cam!
Hope they get something set up for her without too much trouble.
aw, that's such a bummer that they stopped getting along
but great that at least one girl was adopted! i'm so sorry LB, hope you can find another adopter soon!
and hopefully you got all your bad luck/drama for 2011 out of the way, and the rest of the year is wonderful!
I just wish I could do more! I've been thinking about you guys a lot, and I really hope your karma balances out again - have you considered playing the lottery???
I hope she finds a home soon.
Also, I'm not sure how old they are, but my old rescue never adopted out sisters because it is super common for them to get older and not get along.
They're not old at all (2 and 3), but this makes me feel a lot better about what happened. Thanks for mentioning it. I had never heard that before.
