Does the Nook have a backlit screen and I am just missing how to turn it on?  Or does it not have one?

My LookBook had one, and I loved it, because I could read in bed while H was sleeping without turning a light on.

Re: *~*Diana*~*

  • If you have a regular nook it is not backlit. That is one of the selling features because it is easier on your eyes and more like a paper book. There is a clip on reading light that you can buy. The nook color is backlit I believe.

Ahh ok.  I'll have to get that reading light.

I got the regular Nook with 3G.  I didn't think it was worth an extra $50 for the Nook Color.

  • I have the same one. Color wasn't out when I got mine, but I'd really rather spend the extra $200 to get an iPad vs the nook color. I love the e-ink screen on the nook. My poor nook has been neglected lately since I have been working on some paper books, namely Les Mis. Hopefully I will be able to get back to the nook soon.
  • I'm so out of the reading loop.  What are some books I should download?

I read a trashy romance novel last night since it was free.  Haha.

  • I am also a bit out of the reading loop. There are quite a few options for free books and BN has promos pretty often where they offer even more for free. There is the free section on the BN site, but I always look at the publisher info to make sure that it is not a self published book. Those are typically riddled with grammatical errors and generally not very good. You can download books from the library (for a two week checkout time) and from Google books, but I haven't tried that yet. Also, BN does free Fridays every week where a different book is free. I recommend liking nook on FB to stay informed on the free Friday book and any other promo that is going on. The Stieg Larsen books (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) were on sale for $5 each this week and they are supposed to be good.
