**Shasta & Megan & Laura**

Hey all you pretty mamas-to-be! I'm so excited to have friends who are expecting. :) DH & I aren't even thinking about TTC yet, so I'm pretty much living vicariously through y'all. So I know you have plenty of time, but I have to ask... What are you thinking of in terms of baby names?

ETA: I totally want to hear baby name ideas from the non-KU ladies too. Baby names are fun! :)

  • And Jen, Denise & KBaker, if they are still around! :)

Hope everyone is doing well, staying healthy, and getting lots of love from DH!

  • My husband and I decided on a boy's name a long time ago.  Aiden Michael (husband's middle name).  A girl's name has not been so easy for us.  We may go with something like Julianne Nicole or doing Julie Anne (we want to use Ann as a middle name or Nicole, but not sure yet). Of course we still have time to debate this.

  • I am not pg but I like the names Maddison and Sophie for girls. I really want boys, but I flip flop a lot on boys names. I really like Benjamin.
  • I don't like overly trendy names or "unique" spellings, so choosing names has been interesting.  So far, my top runner for a male is Alexander David (David after my sick uncle) even though Alexander is increasingly popular.  Either that name or I'm a fan of Jack, Miles and Nicholas (I think my cousin told me she wants to name her future son Nicholas though, so I'm about to cancel it out).

For a girl, I like Madeleine Christine (Christine after my mother), but I'm sick of the nickname "Maddy"... I know SO many Madisons, it's nuts.  So, I'm leaning toward Amelia (nn Mia).  I also like Lorelei, but I think it's too close to my name.

This. I don't want my kids to have crazy names that teachers pronounce wrong when they take attendance on the first day of school, or names that make other kids make fun of them. I know a girl from high school who has two kids named Brinntani & Brondon, and I feel like she's giving them a life sentence of playground beatdowns. Then again, this girl told me when we were teeneagers that she wanted four kids & to name them all after presidents: Carter, Kennedy, Madison, and (drumroll please) Roosevelt. Barf.

That being said, I don't want my kids to have the same name as three other kids in their class. I've NEVER in my life been the only Sara(h) anywhere. Always Sara E. & that's no fun either. I like Lucy & Stella for girls, with the middle name Lynn b/c that's my middle name, my mom's middle name, both of my sisters', and my niece. For boys, I like Jacob & Paul with the middle name David after DH's late father (passed away September 2009).

    Megan, Carter Matthew is CUTE!

I have come across some weird names!  And sometimes it takes me WEEKS to get them right!  I have a Dzenan, T'kia, J'hane, Shalei, Chetna, Shykel, etc.  I could go forever because I have over 400 students, but I know the pain of names that are hard to pronounce!  I am also trying to pick names that will be easier for teachers to pronounce :o)  Glad I am not the only one!

No way laura!! That exact name is in the running for us too! Hubby just likes Alexander & both of our fathers & my grandfather have the middle name David!

I also like Luke, but can't find a middle name that suits it.

We haven't even picked out any girls names yet! But we have severalllll weeks to do so!

Ok, my child will NOT have a name with an APOSTROPHE in it. I draw the line at punctuation. :-P

  • Alexander has pretty much been in the top 50 most popular names for a long time now. Its in the running for our future son as well, but its a pretty established name in my family (my dad, my grandpa, my g-grandpa, my g-g-grandpa) and even I have a version of it (Alexandra).

  • I'm not pregnant, but our top names are Vivian Elyse (Vivian is after my late grandmother) and Charles Grayson.  Sophia is our other girl name, but Vivian will be our first.
    imageBaby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Our name choices are Joseph Robert (after both our fathers) and Maggie Veronica (after both our grandmothers).  We wanted names that meant something to us and something that wasn't too trendy.

  • Ditto on the not too popular names but also not the ones that are too rare either.

I grew up with an extremely uncommon name and hated it! DH is the complete opposite-Matt and got used to always being with 2 or 3 other Matt's around so we definitely want a middle ground when it comes to naming our children...so far for boys we like Nolan Matthew and we are still on the fence about the girls name yet-but we aren't pregnant so we have time :-)

All you pregnant ladies have such cute names for your future little ones :-)

  • Not pregnant, and probably won't be for another couple of years, but we have names all picked out.  A girl will be Daisy Kate, and if we have a boy, he'll be Adam Rolyn.  (Rolyn is Ron's full first name and it's a family name, prounounced RAHL-in).

Laura, I love the name Amelia!  So pretty!!

  • I'm NP, and not TTC yet, but DH and I have first names picked out.

For a boy I've always been caught on the name Gabriel, Dave made fun of me for SO long about it, but I'm determined.

And for a girl we're both really fond of  Julia, not sure if that'll stick though.

OK - I promise we are not naming our son after a president!  Although some of our best friends have Carter as a last name, so we were a little hesitant about it, but quickly got over it because we really love the name...and they don't seem to mind at all.

When I was a kid, I really wanted a daughter that I would name Taylor Madison...then I realized both were presidents.

A friend of ours was considering naming her son Luke Alexander...I just loved it!  She ended up changing at the last minute (like after he was born), but it was definitely in the running!

The little girl I take care of is named Reagan, but I think it really suits her. You tend to forget that she has the same name as the president. Her nickname is ReaRea (she's two, so it's cute for right now).

  • I love hearing all these, and the reasons.

I'm not PG or TTC, but we've had our names picked for awhile.

Boy - Ethan Michael -- Mike wanted a junior originally, but there are so many in the world, let alone it's his name, my brothers name, my dads name, enough is enough lol We both loved Ethan so we'll have EMC

Girl - Mia Bella -- My nickname has been MIA for many years because I would always disappear on my friends, or tell a date I was coming and never show up (a$$hole lol) and we both love Bella.

....curious to see if we actually name our children these names.

  • I love reading everyone's input on what they want to name there soon to be little ones. I think Carter Matthew is really cute!! and same goes for Alexander David.

we're not talking about having little ones anytime soon, but after both of us, hubby and I have names that are spelled different have come to the conclusion that we need to pass it on to our own little ones when we have them. so when we do find out were expecting a little bundle of joy, it should be fun finding a name!

  • We also are not PG or TTC yet, but we've discussed names a lot...for a girl Coressa Jean (my grandmother's were Cora Esther, and Jean) and if there would be a second daughter Glory Eileen or Glory Ann (my mom's first or his mom's middle for the middle name).  For a boy Hazzard Boyd (his grandfather's first name for middle name) and if there is a second son Ellis Reed (his mom's maiden name for the middle name)

That's a really unique name...I've never heard of it before.  Is there a story behind that?

  • For a boy, I really like Ethan James (james is my DH's middle name) or I like Joshua too.

For a girl, I like Isabelle or Isabella.  Her middle name will be Elizabeth after my deceased grandmother unless we use that as a first name.

I don't like unique spellings or trendy names either.  As a teacher, it is hell to get those names right and also kids can be mean
