Re: Whoopie Pie bill?
I was looking at the comments on this article on FB. People have such huge sticks up their butt. One person said that we should have blueberry pie because it is healthier. Um. Really? Do you know what is in pie dough??? Then someone said that we should have something healthy for the state dessert. Have you seen Mainers and the crap we eat????
I'm all for it!! And I am a firm believer that the whoopie pie originated in Maine, not Pennsylvania!
OMG, MH and I have had some VERY heated discussions about this. He's Pennsylvania Dutch.
Ooh- I call for a bake-off of whoopie pies b/w the Pennsylvania Dutch and Mainers (spoiler alert: everyone wins), and we can be the judges! Although the Maine whoopie pie would clearly be the superior, I wouldn't mind horking a couple dozen down to solidify my decision.
A healthy dessert, seriously?! C'mon, this isn't California...

You know what's crazy? MH AGREES that the Maine version is far superior. He simply won't accept that the whoopie pie didn't originate in PA.
add some peanut butter and call it a day! It becomes less fluffy when you add PB, tastes a whole lot better and it's way less healthy! Lol
Oh healthy desserts my rear end. Am I way off or don't pie crusts also tend to have lard in them ... ?
My week-long chocolate craving was not helped at all by this post haha.
Doesn't our state government have something better to do with their time than argue over what our "official dessert" should be?
Sorry, I am feeling cynical today...
I agree! Normally I would think something like this would be really fun, but there are MUCH bigger issues out there right now. Just my opinion!
I think it is great that there is a fun bill out there. The bill is getting a lot of media attention but that doesn't mean that is what legislators are focused on. It is one fun bill out of hundreds of not so fun ones...including 12 to cut part of my program.
