Not to belabor how crazy my life has been lately, but there's an ice storm scheduled to hit DC tomorrow. OPM hasn't made a final decision about delays, closings, etc. On the one hand, coming into work is definitely going to be hazardous no matter what- as is crossing town to make it to Flag Day at 3 pm. On the other hand, if the government releases early or something, DS's day care will close and I'll be forced to bring a toddler to a formal ceremony. The worst case scenario is that the government completely shuts down tomorrow. I have no idea how that would impact Flag Day and when we would figure out where the heck we're moving. Seriously, WTF did I do to deserve this chaos?! ![]()

On a bright note, we decided to postpone our dinner with friends until Wednesday b/c of the impending storm and 10 people have already RSVPed yes even though I just sent the Evite out a few hours ago. We have awesome and supportive friends.
Re: How did I earn all of this bad karma?
Mother Nature is on my sh!t list. Don't plan anything important for winter in DC.
Yikes, sounds like the storm could really eff things up!! Hopefully that's not the case!
If it makes you feel any better I hear we are going to get snow here on Thurs or Fri. Whhaaatttt? This is South Texas, yo. We don't get snow.
Baby Macy is here!

The worst part about the weather here is how ill prepared the city always is for it. There are areas that get much worse winter weather, but we don't seem to have the resources to cope when it happens here. Where are you from orginally and where did you go to grad school? From what I recall, you've not been in Florida too long, right? I miss Florida winters!
Ha- my earliest memory from childhood was when we were living in central Texas and it snowed.
Yea we used to get days off from class because it might flurry....the MD/DC area doesn't handle snow well. My sister now lives in Alexandria so she has to deal with all that fun...
I am from NY/NJ, and went to grad school in NJ....I've only been in FL 1.5 years so I am still loving the winters:) Though I have become a Floridian already I think....when it is in the 50's I totally complain that it is too cold...
It's funny how quickly you become accustomed to the climate where you live. Now when I come down to Florida in the summer I feel like I'm going to die! Is your H from NJ too? Where did you guys meet?
He was actually born in NJ/his extended family lives in NJ, but he moved around growing up. He did live in NJ when we met though, but we actually met on JDate. His parents moved down to FL, and he ended up getting a job there....and I had always planned on moving to warm weather post grad school so I just figured I would meet him down there when I was done! Long distance is NOT easy, but you make if work if you want it to...
Ugh, we're getting that same storm tomorrow into Wednesday I think. Isn't this winter the absolute worst? And I remember how badly DC freaks out at the mere mention of snow, so I don't envy you.
I will continue to curse the weather, only now I will do so on your behalf!

I feel like I've met so many people that have found their spouses on JDate! It really works :-) I can only imagine how tough it must have been to date long distance. Good thing he decided to relocate somewhere nice and warm!
Oddly enough, both H and his sister met their SO's on JDate. I used to hate to admit that but now that we have been married for a while, I am over it....I mean....it worked haha.
