So I finally got the nerve to go up & knock on her door one day when she was being particluarly noisy. I was going to politely ask her to keep it down, like you all suggested, assuming she just didn't realize how stompy she was being. But she didn't answer. Excuse me wh0re, I find it very hard to believe you're not home when it sounds like a water buffalo is playing "Dance Dance Revolution" on the hardwood floor.
DH tried knocking again when it was loud that night, but she didn't answer then either. So I went to the landlady the next morning & asked what she'd recommend, and she said to keep track for a few days & put all incidents in writing. I ended up writing a full page & using my ipod to make an audio file of how loud it is (time stamped 3:23 a.m. & recorded from my bed!), which cracked my landlady up. She said she'd put a note about it in the girl's mailbox & schedule a meeting with her for today. So I'd have to stick it out a few more days.
Last night & I completely lost my patience & used my swiffer to wail on the ceiling. The landlady is supposed to talk to her today. We'll see how that goes. She's still clomping around up there as we speak. It's been constant & unbearable & I'm SO looking forward to some quiet around here. I just want a nap!

Re: F/U to the loud upstairs neighbor
That sucks that she's such a wh0re, but it's good to see you're doing something about it.
Hopefully something gets done about it.
At least you tried to go to her first and try to solve it...if she isn't even willing to talk to you, then she deserves to get in trouble!
I had to LOL at the "water buffalo playing dance dance revolution on the hardwood floor" that is the best analogy I have ever heard!
I hope something happens, that is ridiculous, especially for her to not answer the door, she must know that she is loud.
Ugh, that stinks!
When we first moved in, our downstairs neighbor would play his video games so loud that we thought our apartment was getting shot up. Jason walked down one day to say something, knocked on the door, and they guy just yelled through the door "It's down!!!". Well, it didn't get better, so we finally said something to the leasing office and they must have said something to him because it was down from then on. He doesn't live below us anymore now anyway, but I can certainly understand where you are coming from. I hope things get better for you real soon!
