I worked a load in for a show on Saturday morning. It's a long, and very complicated story, but a very very important piece of equipment for the show that was supposed to arrive at the theatre the day before, never came. It wasn't our (the theatre's) fault, and there wasn't really anything I could do about it. Missing this piece was the biggest of many issues we had that day.
Long story short, the show's technical person was able to track down the equipment, which was at a FedEx facility about 10 miles from the theatre. Without even thinking about it, she and I hopped in my car and went and got it.
I sent my boss a couple of emails during the day, letting her know what was going on, not because she could help, but so that if her boss asked her about it, she wouldn't be caught unaware. That was a good idea on my part. She forwarded the one I sent her telling her about driving out to go pick up the equipment to her boss (company COO), with a note that said I had redefined customer service that day. (Hooray #1)
I came in this morning to an email from the COO, congratulating me on a good job, and thanking me for taking such good care of the client.
I'm feeling pretty good about things right now. I'll stop bragging now.
