Are they fricken kidding me?
I just got this email sent to me.
Breaking News:
House and Senate Cancel Wednesday and Thursday Sessions -- 11:25 a.m. House and Senate sessions are canceled tomorrow and Thursday due to the blizzard warnings and the impending storm. All House and Senate committees are also canceled for Wednesday and Thursday. House employees were told to call a hot line at 517-373-8140 to see if they have to report for work.
I didn't realize grown-ups got snow days. And Thursday too? Come on! I can't get my eyes to come back down from rolling them so hard.
Re: Are they fricken kidding me?
Eh...I'm not surprised.
IF the storm is as bad as they say - and that is a HUGE IF - and they do indeed ask everyone to stay off of the roads except for emergency vehicles, I think it would be prudent for all non-essential businesses to close and encourage people to work from home.
Actually, we received an email at work yesterday saying that there is a potential that our office will be closed tomorrow. I've been here for almost six years, and they've never closed before. We'll see if it happens though.
I am really surprised that the gov. canceled work on Thursday though. I imagine things will be getting back to normal by then.
(I so want to work for the House or Senate! Like, for real, not just because they get snow days.)
I'd love to know how many businesses just shut down tomorrow.
And speaking in terms of the State, will they stop issuing unemployment claims and checks tomorrow since the House and Senate are off? What about child protective services, State police? How about the corrections officers, just tell them to stay home? LOL.
And yet they're officially a full-time legislature! Grrrr... that should change, IMO.
Ditto. I've worked here for 5 winters and we've had some bad storms in those 5 years without closing once. I haven't had a snow day since high school.
