For those of you that are working wives and moms...when do you clean and do you have a schedule? I don't currently and am very sporadic, but it's not working!

I am not a working wife and mom, I am a stay at home mom, but this is the advice I recently gave my BFF who is a working wife and mom. She would come to my house and make comments like, "Oh it must be nice to be a stay at home mom because you can clean all day long and your house always looks nice." This is not the first time I have heard this comment from her, so I basically told her the cold hard facts. No I am not at work all day long and then coming home and taking care of my house and kids and I cannot imagine how tired she is by the end of the day. But it is not like I sit on my butt all day eating bon bons and watching my stories. I am taking care of my 2 1/2 year old twins and they no longer nap. So my entire day is dealing with them until they go to bed at 8:30 at night. So I had to figure out how to get all my cleaning and work done while they were awake and make it work.
This is how I do it. I made a list of all the areas I need to clean in my house on a weekly basis (or make a list of everything you would clean if you spent one whole day cleaning you house on the weekend) and then I break it up into days. I don't spend more than 45 min. a day cleaning my house. I told her she could do the same thing. Yes, I am sure she is tired when she gets home, but if she and her DH spend 45 min. a night doing some light cleaning then they would not have to worry about it on the weekends and their house would not be in shambles all the time (I put it much more nicely).
She and her husband have started doing this system and it really is working well for them. I was just over there yesterday and the house was the cleanest I have seen it in a long time. They made a list of chores and then broke them down into areas and then decided which days of the week these would be done based on nightly activities (their daughter is currently in gymnastics 2x a week, soccer 2x a week and teeball 1x a week.), so they take turns driving her to activities and cleaning. So for example, Monday her DH takes daughter to soccer practice (he is coach) and she stays home with younger daughter and cleans the master bath (he hates cleaning baths so she picked this chore) On Tuesday, she drives their daughter to gymnastics and he stays home and does all the floors (vac/swiffer and mop tile) in the house. Wednesday night, no activities they both do some cleaning. She does the dusting and he cleans the kitchen. Thursday he drives to gymnastics and she stays home and cleans the girls bathroom. Friday night, they both do quick dusting of the house, swiffer all the floors and wipe down the kitchen counters. So their house is ready for any company that comes over on the weekend with clean bathrooms to use and a clean kitchen and floors.
This may not work for everyone, but this has really helped a busy family of 4 that I know personally.
DH does all of the cleaning in our house because I'm a terrible cleaner. He will do one thing a day (Monday is dusting, Tuesday is floors, Wednesday is bathrooms etc.) By the time the weekend comes we don't have to worry about cleaning.
While he's cleaning, I do the other chores. I do all of the laundry. I usually do one or two loads of laundry a day during the week and try to keep the weekends free, although that never works! I don't know how we have so much laundry! I also do all of the cooking. I try to make double portions of the meals that I can freeze so that I have less prep/cooking time in the future.
