Say... we were to move to CO Springs... whats the cost of living? And what areas should we avoid?

Re: Kate
Shut up really!!!!!!!! Housing -- average cost for 3 bed/2 bath around 217... all the way up to 400... South east or central south west is not the best. Good school districts are district 20, and district 12 (Briargate, Northgate, Rockrimmon, Cheyenne Mountain, etc). Housing is a SAFE bet there! Lots of new houses out east (Falcon) but the school district is overcrowded and the board is the Jerry Springer show of school boards. Southeast has less expensive housing but is more depressed. We have 3 military installations and the Air Force Academy so lots of contracting jobs. Gas is has been lower than the country average for awhile now--we have more direct access to pipeline. Food about the same as everywhere else. Weather is usually 80-90's in summer and cold with some snow in winter--cool part is it melts pretty quickly. Humidity is really low. Lots of great resturants and the outdoor activities are the best. Very animal friendly...lots of places allow animals on the patio, outside, and even have special activities for them.
Anything else, just let me know!
Thanks! We're just starting to look into the possibility. If we do move, we wouldn't even start looking until sometime next year. The reason we're starting to research now is because it is such a huge ordeal to take on, especially with a LO. But then I have to also find a place for my horse too, which I think makes it even more difficult.
It looks like the pay for the CO springs PD is about the same as DH is getting paid here. So that's good. And I was looking online at home SFH under 200thous that looked alright. But obviously, it's all about where things when/if we get to do this.
We both want this big change, and to get out there and start over fresh somewhere (not that we hate where we are, or are in a bad situation at all) I think we're a little tired of stupid family drama, and feel like the farther we are from it, the better. I dunno there's still a lot to talk about it, luckily there is time. But CO is one of the few states we'd consider doing a big move to.
...We should probably visit it first though... haha

Visit anytime!!!! I will tell you that's how I moved. I came to visit a friend who lived in Fort Collins (Northern CO), fell in love with the state, went home, put in applications for teaching and moved that summer. If you are looking for horse housing... then you should consider Peyton or Black Forest (which are in district 20). You still can get quite a bit of land and it's zoned for horses!
