REALLY stupid question about the SAT...
Reading on the MM board about other people's scores...did you take the SAT? I swear on my life I didn't (when I told DH this he looked at me like I was crazy). I started OU when I was a junior in HS so the only thing I needed to be accepted at that time was several letters of recommendation and a certain GPA. Then, when I graduated HS, I just started as a full-time student. I did take the ACT but not the SAT. Is that normal?
Re: REALLY stupid question about the SAT...
For our state, yes. Since most schools around here only require an ACT score, that's what most kids in the state take. I only took the ACT.
I've found that more kids from Texas [since their schools require the SAT for admission, I think] and those who are National Merit semifinalists take the SAT. I never wanted to get near that test, honestly.

Bloggy
I only took the ACT. It's all that was required.
This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say. I always thought it varied by state. I did take the SAT as part of the National Merit program. I actually thought it was easier, and I did better on it than the ACT.
You were a National Merit! (Really, this surprises me very little.
) Did you graduate from OU? What year, if so?
I thought it was the PSAT that determined if a person was a National Merit. Don't ask me where I got that.
I was (yep, I'm really a nerd =P). We actually had four from my small school the year I graduated. No, I actually ended up putting college off a year because I was pregnant with DD and starting at UCO the next year.
Critti - totally not surprised you were National Merit. Just from what I know about you, I'm not surprised.
From what I've heard, the ACT is only a Midwest/Southern thing. The Coasts [and Texas] typically focus more on the SAT.
This could mean you think I'm a giant dork, but I'm going to take it as a compliment. ;-) Thanks!
I swear, I meant it as a compliment, too. I think you're sharp as a tack.
Aw, thanks! Right back atcha! (Hopefully we're going to get to meet in person one of these days and you'll see I really am a giant dork, though. =P)
Oh, me too, I assure you.
And I hope we do get to meet in person one of these days!
I absolutely don't think you're a giant dork! Promise.
