Anyone ever had a cortisone shot?
I have, what my podiatrist suspects is a cyst on a nerve in my foot. Very freaking painful and inconvenient. I'm worried the shot will hurt, or I will be limping for the rest of the day.

Re: Anyone ever had a cortisone shot?
I just had one on my hand. I was having trigger finger (index finger would lock in place like if you were pulling a trigger) and I was also having a lot of pain and soreness of my whole hand. Massage didn't help and I was pretty uncomfortable.
The shot hurt. She used a freezing spray to numb the injection site and then shot it with novicane and the cortisone. It hurt. Stung. I was able to breathe through the pain and just kept in mind that the pain would be temporary and then I wouldn't have to deal with the pain in my hand anymore. It was numb afterwards from the novicane and I still had some soreness (like what I'd been having before) for a few days after...then it stopped and feels just fine now.
AHHH! This is freaking me out! Wonder if they will do that for a nerve too? You can literally see a bump under my skin, even the cuff of my pantleg triggers the nerve.
It bothers you now, right? It makes you limp now, right? So, what if the shot hurts? What if it makes you limp? Wouldn't you rather have a little more pain and limp for a day to NOT be in pain after that?
I have cysts too. Usually they're not painful but sometimes they cause numbness. I also get them on my scalp and when they get too big, they start to weep and I eventually have to have them cut out. I'd rather the shot than surgery.

I nearly passed out after mine. My doc kept having to remind me to breathe.
But - I had bursitis in my shoulder and a month of high doses of Motrin weren't doing the trick. Doc didn't want me on Motrin anymore, so I opted for the shot.
It sucked. But in 2 days I had full rotation back in my shoulder. My blood sugars were a hot mess for about 2 weeks, but that's a side affect for us diabetics.
