I know a lot of you ladies have been getting a lot of snow and snowdays this winter. Has anyone been affected yet from the one that is heading towards NY now? I'm in Buffalo and they're saying that by 10pm tomorrow night we're going to have about 16-18 inches of snow. They're saying that tomorrow morning is going to be the worst of it. Most of the school districts around are closed except for the Buffalo Public schools, and 2 of the colleges are closed. I'm praying that my college closes because I don't want to have to drive to class in this. My teacher will dock us 50 points from our final grade for missing a day for any reason and 10 points for being late. Ugh

Re: Snowstorm
my read shelf:
y close, good luck!
I'm in the western burbs of Chicago- and I left work at about 2:30, the roads were fine. Went to Macy's. It was snowing harder when I left. Went to Home Depot (got there around 3:30), and it took me nearly an hour to drive 7 miles home! It snowed at least 6 inches in about 2 hours. They are expecting 3-4 inches an hour from 9pm to 3 am!
And power has been flickering, longest it has been off has been 5 minutes.
The University I work at hasn't closed in 25 years or more... and we have a pre emptive snow day tomorrow.
The waves on Lake Michigan are supposed to get up to 12-18 feet, and they are expecting flooding of Lake Shore Drive.

You made my wedding day complete.
I'm in Texas, and this crazy storm is even affecting us! It's 28 degrees right now and the temp is still dropping. I kind of wish we were getting snow though. If it's going to be this cold, I want to play in the snow!
This is crazy! My power was completely out for 3 hours... and there is thunder and lightening. The sky lit up all pink... it was kind of cool! I was just about to fall asleep and a friend called- and then the power came back on.
And I am now watching weeds instead of sleeping.

I'm in central IL. We had a blizzard warning starting at 6 am yesterday morning, and it is supposed to end at noon today. They were calling for 20 to 24 in. in snow. By the looks of it outside I would say we definitely got that much. All businesses shut down yesterday afternoon, and will continue to be closed today. They have shut down parts of Interstate 74 to all but emergency vehicles. We even had "thundersnow" last night. It was the most frightening and yet amazing thing. The lightning is so bright because it reflects off all the white snow that it about blinds you, and the thunder was so loud it would rattle our house. I'm currently watching the morning news. We have 2 local channels that have combined there news broadcast this morning, and are broadcasting simultaneously because they have too many people snowed in to broadcast 2 different shows. They are calling for temps of -10 tonight
I have never seen anything quite like this. Definitely the worst snow storm we have had here in my lifetime. Yesterday they were saying that if the storm was a predicted, we would break a record set over 100 years ago for the most snow falling locally in a 24 hour period. The previous record was 18in. in 24 hours. I haven't heard yet if we broke it.
I took a couple pics when I let the dog out this morning. I will try to post them in a min. It's still dark here, and I took them on my phone so I don't know how they turned out.
I'm in MA - we proably got about 4-5 inches yesterday....though it could have been more, I was sitting at work all day and by the time I looked out the window to check it out, they'd already started plowing and stuff so I don't really have a clue!
Anyway, I live in in southern MA - I don't think we got hit nearly as hard as western/northern MA. It stopped snowing probably around dinner time and when I woke up this morning there about about 1-2 inches of wet snow and it wasn't really snowing but more like freezing rain, slushy stuff. Not really sure how long it's supposed to last today. Only added about 15-20 minutes to my drive into work this morning though so that's good. I wish I could work from home...school was cancelled so I could be hanging out with DH at home!
