How long did you take off after the baby came? How long do you plan on taking off if your baby isnt here yet?

I was off for 4 weeks after. Then for the first 2 weeks back, my bosses let me work 3 day weeks instead of my normal 4 day weeks. I was planning on working up until I went into labor, however, I ended up in the hospital and then was put on bed rest. So I was off starting on Monday and induced that Thursday.

I'm not pregnant yet, but I have an idea of what I would like to happen.

I'm hoping to work up until I go in to labor. I have two weeks of vacation so i'll definitely use that, and I'll ask for up to two extra weeks. I only work 3.5 day weeks so I don't think it will be too bad to go back in after those 3-4 weeks are over.

I was thinking 4-6 weeks. Luckily the family I work for has family nearby willing to stay and care for the little guy until I come back. Plus, the mom is due 3 weeks before me so she'll be off for awhile too. She's insitant I take off whatever time I would like and not worry about when to come back. I just didnt have any idea of what would be normal for a nanny.

I have as much time as I want but I'm taking 4 weeks. I will work at both jobs until I go into labor and then will be returning after April break. I'm easing into dance a little bit so that I can get on track. Then I'm off nannying for the summer since she's a teacher so I'll just have a little bit of dance.

That's awesome. I just figure since he'll be coming with me, I don't need as much time as a mom who has to drop theirs off at a daycare or whatever. I'm going after 4 weeks bc my mat leave is unpaid and so is the summer so I'm going back sooner to get some extra into savings.

The family I work for were so helpful throughout everything. I was also supposed to get only my vacation time as paid leave (2 weeks). However, since one week I was off on bed rest and the 2nd week I was off, I had Weston but he had to stay in the hospital the whole time, they let me have 4 weeks paid, so I only had one week unpaid.

I'm taking the full 12 weeks. FMLA entitles me to get 12 weeks, so I'm going to take advantage of it. However, I only get paid for 8 of those weeks. At my company, our short term disability is also used for maternity leave, and we accrue a set number of hours of paid STD every year. I'll have 7 weeks accrued two months before my due date, and then I have to use one week of vacation or all 5 days of sick time before STD kicks in. So that gives me 8 paid weeks. The other 4 I have to take unpaid.
