ok ladies - so in my blog I posted a challenge H and I are going to do...then one of my friends commented on it and i think it's totally funny how what can be a challenge to us - somebody else is doing already and doing it MUCH better... i thought maybe you gals could check it out and comment on there after her (or MAYBE H and I really are totally nuts...there's always that option to - and it wouldn't shock me! haha!)
it's just funny to be SO off from other people... oh boy. married life!

I guess that's why you throw things out there - to see if you are the norm or the exception - so here goes! ![]()
i hope all of your weeks are well!
Re: the challenge...
Good luck! We quit eating out as much a few weeks before the wedding to save money. It's not very difficult for DH, but I absolutely love eating out. I also love fountain drinks, for some reason they taste so much better in a Styrofoam cup and a straw.
We've been doing really well not eating out though.
Very cool! Congrats to both of you for at least making the effort to fill those coffers up...(They're very nice looking coffers too!) the reality is so many people become accustomed to eating out that they either never give themselves the opportunity to explore their own culinary creativity, or they come to fear their own kitchen. Kinda sad, when grown people can't feed themselves, huh? So congrats to you both for using those cool kitchen gadgets!!
It actually sounds like an interesting challenge for you guys. We are doing something similar, too because we were definitely eating out way too much.
I am honestly scared to do the math on eating out for the last 4 weeks! But I think I might, just to see how much it turns out be.
Thanks for sharing.

?PAL/PGAL Welcome!?
<a href="http://s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n489/jvanier/?action=viewIf you do PLEASE post what you find out under the blog - its really fun for everybody to read where others are becuase it varies so much! (thank GOODNESS it varies or i would feel AWFUL) haha!!
good luck!!!
Amen KScarlet! I love a giant styrofoam cup with a straw!
I think that your goal to save money by eating out less and in more is do-able. We eat in every breakfast, lunch, and dinner (spare for a dinner a week). I spend about $80 on groceries a week and make some darn good meals if I do say so myself. I had to learn how to cook early on in the relationship as H's "meals" consisted of frozen pizza and hotdogs. While both are good, they do get slightly tiring and are not necessarily healthy. I tend to buy what's on sale (that we use) and construct meals out of that (ex. I bought a few pounds of salmon on Monday for $16 that would have regularly been $30 or more.
Good luck with your quest! Perhaps we should start a new thread of good recipes?
very cool plan! It's hard to equate with costs here - things are very different prices and I think wages are different too?
Anyway, good luck! I'm sure you'll rock it!
Where we met - Mount Isa
a small mining town in the Australian Outback. Neither of us are from there but we both moved there in the second last year of highschool. He was moved next to me in maths class to stop him talking. It didn't work.
Great challenge!
We actually spend about $80/week on food as well. It is totally possible, especially if you cook and save the leftovers for the night after. And also mashed potatos are a cheap easy thing to make at home as well.
Good luck!
