Book suggestions for GRNBC here
I will leave this open until Friday since I'm sure a lot of people aren't here today. (Luckies!)
We will vote later this week/early weekend.
Re: Book suggestions for GRNBC here
These are books that I own but haven't read yet (most of them I received for Christmas):
The Help, by Kathryn Stockett
Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett
Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides
The Septembers of Shiraz, by Dalia Sofer
'Tis, by Frank McCourt
I'd like to do another classic:
Jane Eyre, The Woman in White, The Secret Garden, The Scarlet Letter...
Those are the ones on the first screen of my Kindle haha. I'm sure there are more on there.

Did you like it? I tried to read it a few years ago...
I personally loved it, it's one of my favorite books
I recommend The Help. I just finished it a few weeks ago. It wasn't a book I would have picked up normally but was surprised that I liked it some much. It is also being made in to a movie that is due to be released later this year. We could read it and then make plans for a GNO to see the movie.
Water for Elephants which I think has been talked about is also being made into a movie too.
Loved that one as well!
I've got the Help on my TBR list!
OMG, I LOVE Water for Elephants. I hadn't heard they were making it into a movie! Aren't they making The Help into a movie, too?
It looks SO good - Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon are the main characters! There is a trailer out online, you should watch it.
I have also read Water for Elephants, The Red Tent, and most of Phillippa Gregory's Tudor series.
I think it's interesting that for the most part, we've all read so many of the same books!
Another suggestion for a classic is The Great Gatsby. It's really short, but I've been wanting to reread it since high school.
I love the idea of a book club! I've become quite the bookworm this winter. I've read most of the suggestions, other than the classics. Mollie- I really want to read The Red Tent, I haven't gotten to that one, yet.
Middlesex- I really liked it
Water for Elephants- was terrific
The Help- my FAVORITE!!
The Dragon Tattoo Series- was dark, but thrilling. Loved all three books.
Even though I have read these, if one is chosen I will read again and participate in the the discussion. It will be fun to see what other people think.
Yay for all the suggestions!
I'm slightly overwhelmed - who wants to help me narrow these down for a vote? Let's pick 4 (ish)
I suggest:
Sarah's Key
The Confession by John Grisham
House Rule - Jodi Picoult
Maybe two rounds of voting? First a poll with all of the suggestions, and then a poll with the top 4?
Or we could just pick four.
That is an excellent suggestion
These are great suggestions.
I've been wanting to read The Help. And I'd reread Jane Eyre with you all.
Those are my votes.
And Water for Elephants as a movie?!?! Yay!
