Just read about your vent. 1. Your FIL is a douche. haha
2. Let me tell you from someone who just went through visitors especially in the first few weeks tell her NO NOW! Doesn't matter if you'd think you want your BFF there or not.
I thought I wanted MIL there until Ava was born and it was a nightmare for me!!! Then my aunt came then my good friend came then MIL and FIL and BIL for a bit. It was EXHAUSTING!!!!!
Everyone will have an opinion and be in your business and all you'll want to do is lock you and your baby in your room so you can have peace.
Just telling you now set your doundaries and you pick when she comes!

Re: AK
Thanks.
I do not want to play host, you know?! Yeah DH told her straight away when she said she was coming, he said "We'd prefer if you waited a few weeks or months once things have calmed down. And we have a rule that no one will be staying with us, and don't expect us to play host/show you around MD or see us a lot." I found out via her facebook status that "she is coming to Maryland in August to meet her new neice/nephew and then doing an east coast road trip!" Whatever, if she still wants to come after that, we said/did all we could and she can deal with sitting in a hotel room in Annapolis for a few days. Maybe she'll get to see the baby once. Or twice, if I am feeling generous.
There are two girls/best friends I know I wouldn't mind having there, because they would help me, haha! But they probably can't come. Other than that, everyone is a no no no. You can fly to Maryland all you want but don't expect anything out of us. I'm sure as time gets closer my MIL will ask to be in the delivery room (she's a nurse) and that's a hell no. I cannot stand any of in ILs, and I was dreading telling them because they are awful people but all pretend to be close during big events (weddings/babies) and we get a guilt trip for not dropping everything for them.
Oh I love people like that! haha
Good for you and your H for keeping a united front because that took my H a little bit to understand and get but it means the world to stick together.
At least you can always so that you just don't want company and smart idea on not having her stay.
When we have #2 I already will be telling H to stay at home with Ava I'll be fine in the hospital at night alone and when I come home it's just us 4...no guests staying the night (glad we only have a 3 bdrm haha)
