Anyone have a great fish marinade?

With Lemon, I have some fresh lemons that a neighbor gave us and I'm making Mahi Mahi tonight.

Lucy's will be plain (she hasn't done well with acidic things) but I'm looking for a marinade for Mine and DH's

Re: Anyone have a great fish marinade?

  • hmmmm...you can do some soy sauce and some fish dry seasoning?

Usually we have a teriyaki marinade that we make and love:

1/4 cup tamari soy sauce (soy sauce) 1 cup water fresh grated ginger (about 1 tbsp or to your taste) 3 tablespoons brown sugar 1 minced garlic clove 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1/4 cup cold water

I do not have fresh ginger on hand so I use the ground stuff. I also have some sesame seeds that I add at the end.

    We are having cod tonight!

  • I make haddock a lot by combining lemon juice and butter (to taste). I usually add salt, pepper, garlic, and parm cheese to the lemon/butter mix before dipping the fish in. Top with parsley, bake about 10 minutes ~ 350-375 degrees, add crumbed Ritz crackers and bake an additional 5 or so minutes. I'm sure you could use this with the Mahi Mahi.

  • What'd you end up making??? You don't want to marinate fish too long (5-10 minutes), especially in lemon... the acidity will end up partially cooking the fish. I've never done a marinade on fish, but my favorite way to cook it is in a foil packet with lemon slices, white wine, s&p, parsley and zucchini. It's so yummy!
