Starting to worry about my Saturdays
School was cancelled again for tomorrow because the city I work in doesn't know how to plow. There is talk of school on Saturdays or losing one of our vacation weeks. I really don't want to lose my weekends. I need to read my contract really well. I know I shouldn't whine because I have summers off and vacations but people don't truly understand what it is like being trapped with a room full of 10 year olds....for mental sanity, I need time. Sighhh...done venting now.

Re: Starting to worry about my Saturdays
I'm not too worried about Saturdays yet. I think it would only come to that for us if it jeopardized graduation. We have enough extra days built in so far that we don't have to worry about Saturday make up days. I am losing President's day off and one day of our (already short) spring break.
In Ohio we have had 5 snow days for as long as I can remember, but last year the governor reduced it to 3. The new governor (who started this January) wants to go back up to 5, but that has not been passed yet. So we already have 2 days to make up.
Oh wow! I would not be happy. Our school corporation does not have any snow days built in which is so weird to me. We have had four snow days thus far. We will be losing our last two teacher record days so we only have two more days to make up. They will vote on it sometime within the next couple of weeks, but my bet is that they will just tack them on at the end of the year. Any other days off we have are all federal holidays so not much else we can give up.
Hope you don't have to start working on Saturdays! Keep us updated!
Chelly,
I worked in Worcester during that psycho ice storm two years ago when we missed almost two months of school or something...including christmas break....we tacked it on the end, didnt have to get rid of vacations etc.
fingers crossed that its not gonna be losing vacations and weekendsGetting fit for IVF!
