Who is making food for the Superbowl? Any one care to share recipes for whatever you make? Dips, calzones, etc?
Re: Superbowl food
I got an idea: I'm going to make pigs in a blanket. Finger food are always a good thing. So far other people are making: buffalo chicken dip, queso dip, hummus, chili, and cupcakes.
Other good finger foods (or at least with toothpicks): meatballs, sliced kielbasa, calzones cut into thin strips, cocktail shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops, cheese & crackers, fruit & yogurt, veggies & dip, spinach dip with pumpernickel bread, nachos or taco dip. HTH!
One of my new go-to things to bring to pot luck parties is TacoSoup. So easy and so good.
Sometimes I drain& rinse the beans but sometimes I forget and just toss everything in. Mix everything in a crock pot and cook. Serve with shredded cheese and tortilla chips (I like to use Scoops because you can just eat the soup with the chip)
Similar to chilli in taste but not as thick.
Another one I love because it's so easy. Cheesecake Brownies
1. Follow directions on the brownie package. (I usually follow the Cake-like directions for this so the cheesecake mixture doesn't squish the brownie flat)
2. In seperate bowl mix the cream cheese, egg, and sugar until smooth.
3. Grease 9x13 pan. Pour in most of the brownie batter. Drizzle/spread/dollop the cheesecake mixture on top. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top of that. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the 2 mixes on top.
4. Cook following the temp/ time requirements the brownie mix.
I just made a fantastic spiced hummus dip this past weekend. You can dip veggies, pita bread and even fruit in it (it has about 1/3 cup honey). The recipe is in my blog (LIS).
This year DH and I are flying out to Vegas on the morning of the 6th so we'll be out there for the Super Bowl. Last time I was in Vegas was during March Madness. Let the betting begin!
When is the Superbowl?
I guess we only watch when it is the Patriots that play??? I don't know. Ha ha ha. I never keep up with football.
Kiwi, both of your recipes sound amazing!
I always make a pepperoni bread (I'm known for it... I can't show up anywhere without people asking why I didn't bring it!)
In the food processor, shred a stick of extra sharp cheddar cheese, a stick of monterey jack cheese, and a stick of pepperoni. Mix together in a big bowl and add an egg and some parsley.
Roll out a pre-made package of fresh pizza dough, and spread the cheese/pepperoni mix on top. Roll it up and put it on a cookie pan. Cook on 350 for about 45minutes (or until it's golden brown on the outside.
I'm not a pepperoni person, so I honestly don't even eat it, but other people love it. There are never any leftovers!
I dont have any plans this year. But last year I made smores brownies that were a big hit.
Those recipe sounds delish!
ooo ... that pepperoni bread sounds yummy and easy too. I will have to try that.
Superbowl is this Sunday. Packers vs. Steelers.
