Hey ladies! Hope you're all having a good day!
Today I believe DH and I are going to a friends for dinner. They're having Kabobs (not sure if its steak or chicken).
What would be a good side dish to take? I think we're going to make some chip dip, but figured maybe we could contribute a little more too.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Re: Sides for Kabobs
Some type of bread? Either a nice loaf that could be sliced or even dinner rolls.
I always think of them being served on rice, but I don't know how exciting that is to bring.
How about a dessert? Cupcakes, brownies, or this awesome trifle that was recommended by a nestie whose name I'm not remembering.
The trifle bowl just makes it look pretty. But you can make it in any bowl you have. I have to admit that I was super skeptical about it since the recipe was so simple. But my friends and coworkers keep asking when I'm going to make it again.
Also you can make it healthier by substituting applesauce for the oil in the cake and using sugar-free/fat-free pudding and cool whip. I promise that no one will notice the difference!
We ended up with the bean layered dip and brownies. . but Im totally keeping these ideas
)
I KNOW Dh would love the trifle idea
)
And veggie kabobs would be awesome. . my brain wasn't thinking today. It's been like that most of the week.
I can take credit for the trifle.
I got a recipe from a sorority sister back in college when we did a chapter cookbook! I'm glad you liked it, elissa. I don't have a trifle bowl, so I usually just make it in a great big regular bowl.
