Superbowl Menu

So, we're having a few people over to watch the Superbowl (maybe 5-6 people plus me and DH), and its sort of last minute so I'm trying to figure out what to serve. I'll probably put out some appetizer thingies, chips and dip, etc. but want to do one thing that's more substantial but good to make for a group, or maybe 2 things if they're easy. I'm thinking of chili, baked ziti, tacos or meatballs. Any suggestions? Nothing with pork since I don't eat that.

And sorry that this will be a post & run, I'm in the midst of all day offsite meetings but I'll be back on tomorrow night.

Re: Superbowl Menu

  • You could do pulled chicken (like pulled pork but with chicken) which ppl can make sandwiches with. McCormics has a great packet that you can buy and do the whole think in the crock pot.
  • The friends house that we go to every year (they always host a big group of DH's hockey buddies) has meatballs to make meatball sandwiches in marinara, I've also seen other people do roast beef sliced for sandwiches though I'm not sure how they prepare it. Both of them are in a crockpot during the even to keep warm so no fuss for you during the party. I always think those type of events are better to have a sandwich that can be handled with one hand rather than have to worry about plastic forks.

  • I think chili would be really easy, especially in the crock pot, and you could have a toppings bar with cheese, bacon, onions, tortilla strips, etc. It's something that would be pretty easy to put together that would look really nice.

  • okay so this post made me really want meatballs now lol stupid cravings Confused My mom makes these little mini sausages that are so good. She somehow does them in the crockpot with grape jelly and barbecue sauce and they taste amazing. I think they are found either in the freezer section or over where all the other sausage is. Sigh... now I want mini sausages for dinner lol

  • I was going to post a similar thread, too!

We like to theme our Super Bowl parties to the team we are rooting for, so last year we made Gumbo for the Saints. This year I am making a cheese dip of sorts and DH is making beer brats b/c he says those are from Wisconsin (is this even true?).

Anyway, the gumbo last year was really easy - people could help themselves to seconds, thirds, etc. whenever they wanted so I think chili would be similarly simple. And I love the idea of a toppings bar w/ it!

Sure are!  Soak the brats in LOADS of beer before you cook them=supper nummy!

Also tastes better if you put some raw onions and some minced garlic with the brats and beer when you cook them!

yummmyyyyy I want to eat this NOW.

  • Meatballs would be great for appitizer type food.  If you want more of a main dish, you could do meatball subs or chili.

We are going to have about 3-5 people plus H and I at ours and here's my menu:

    Pulled pork

    spinach artichoke dip

    veggie tray

    7-layer mexican dip

    cupcakes

cheese dip with pretzels and/or wheat thins

    and maybe shrimp

  • Okay, if you want to do meatballs, my mom gave me her recipe to try a couple of weeks ago, and they were frickin' amazing!!! Let me know if you want the recipe.

I also have a recipe for Beer Brats 'n Kraut (although I just buy the beer brats, grill them, and then add stuff to the crockpot with the kraut). People that hate kraut still love this recipe! Let me know if you want that one, too!

I went shopping last night for my Super Bowl menu! I am getting SO excited!!!

I think I'm going to make a seperate post to just put what your menu is or what you are bringing to contribute to another's party. FUN! Love Super Bowl so friggin' much!!!
