Has anyone been on a cruise?
Mike and I have been talking about going on a cruise FOREVER. With all the honeymoon pics its got me motivated into doing some serious research and I thought why not start with my nesties!
So has anyone been on one? Can you recommend a ship? Where do you recommend going? Any idea if they offer child care on the ships?
We have contemplated doing a Disney cruise with L but that probably wont happen for a few more years.

Re: Has anyone been on a cruise?
We did a crusie for the honeymoon from NYC to Fla, to the Bahamas and back... it was a great price for the vacay.
We took Norwegian (NCL.com) and it was pretty good, but we have nothing to compare it to. I got sick for a good portion of it, so that was my own fault. Make sure, on any ship, that you check out the floors above and below your room to make sure your not above the discotheque like were were
(
NCL has Nickeloedon characters on board, they have a specific day care area that was really nice looking (a couple we met had twins that were there ALL THE TIME so they could have adult time, they got a cell phone to carry in case there were problems.)
What else would you like to know?
Cruises are great because they are (mostly) all inclusive - you never have to worry about how much food is going to cost. But do be aware of things that DO cost additional money: soda, alcohol, pictures, on some ships gratuity isn't included, shore excursions, internet, some activities....
(This is going to sound like an advertisement, but I swear it's not!)
We book off of CruiseDirect.com it's easy to see everything by price and destinations. Although, I don't know if they have Disney Cruises on there (we've never looked, as we assume they are very kid friendly).
I will say this: Disney is very expensive compared to Carnival. I do believe Carnival has a lot of kid friendly things to do. When you do find one you like, I would reccomend doing research on the actual ship, too. For example, we were going to do a 2-week Hawaii cruise for the honeymoon, but upon more research we found the ship itself had TERRIBLE reviews.
Also, if you get sea sick easily, get a room in the middle of the ship, not at the back. One cruise we went on we were at the very end, and the first 2 days were wasted by me barfing all the time.
I would be happy to do more research for you - just let me know what ship/s you are looking at. Cause remember, you're going to spend A LOT of time on the boat, it's not just about the destinations
I love cruises - I've been on 4.
The first was an inter-island cruise with NCL in Hawaii. It was amazing and the best way to see hawaii - every day we woke up at a new island. I HIGHLY recommend this, it was awesome.
I went on the "Mayercraft Carrier" on a Carnival ship. It was basically John Mayer concerts. From that experience I decided I would never ever said with Carnival again. The ship was dirty, and they seemed to cater to a young partying crowd. I know others that don't mind Carnival, but I just didn't enjoy it as much.
I went to Bermuda on NCL. It was amazing. NCL has freestyle cruising where you can eat at whatever restaurants you want on the ship, whenever you want. This is a nice convenience and based on my 2 cruises with them I have nothing bad to say about NCL. Bermuda was amazing to, I want to go back.
Most recently DH and I went to the eastern caribbean on a RC ship - freedom of the seas. Freedom of the seas is an awesome ship.
I would say RC and NCL are very very comparable as far as quality, staff, food etc. I would sail with either of them again.
Cruises are great because you only have to carry your room key around. Everything else you can leave locked in your room. It's so convenient and you have so much to do and can see so many great places. I def recommend getting a balcony room if you can - I did this 3 of 4 times and wish I had the one time. It's great waking up to the ocean every day.
