Good Morning!

How the heck is it already Thursday??  I guess since it's only my second day in the office this week it's expected to feel odd.

Some magical snow fairy removed the plow dumpings in the middle of the night, so I'm less angry now.

The difference between the amount of snow we got in the city I live in vs. the city I work in (40 km/25 miles between them) is crazy!  It hardly looks like they got any snow here, and we're in a freaking winter wonderland!  They did say that my city bore the brunt of the storm though.

I pretty well read all of The Hunger Games yesterday, and am already well into Catching Fire.  I'm rather enjoying these books and may have my Kindle for PC app open on my computer today.

How is everyone doing today?

Re: Good Morning!

  • I LOVE that series, you may also enjoy the Uglies series...

Today we have another snow day. Which means I'm going to spend the day playing on here and doing my projects for University today. Oh also we will have the first parenting class tonight! YAY!

  • I love those books too.  Such a quick easy read.

This week has gone pretty fast for me too, which is always nice.  I'm guessing the next few months are going to go by fast since we have a lot going on.  One of which is learning to drive.  Yes, after having driven in the US/Canada for 15 years I have to once again take lessons and a driving test in order to get my license here.  My first lesson is tonight, which should be interesting.  I'm really not looking forward to this whole process though - the test here is supposed to be really hard and I'm so afraid I'm going to fail!

  • Good morning, ladies!

We are on day 3 of Josh's school being cancelled and the entire area being on lockdown... Including rolling 15 power outages because our power grid isn't designed for this kind of overload.

Unfortunately, Ann Taylor still thinks that we need to be open, regardless of the fact that no one else in our shopping center is open, nor have we had a single customer in the past three days.  It took me two hours for a fifteen minute commute yesterday. Shoot me.  I am fixing to head out now.

Luckily, I put in my two weeks--- I start my new job at Soma soon...  same amount of money, plus commission, plus benefits for part time.

Miss you ladies, hope to be around much more!

  • Good morning! Today I'm hoping for a short day since later in the afternoon we will be expecting some sleet/snow. So I'm planning to stay home the rest of the afternoon and have a movie night.

  • Morning Ladies!

Good luck at your parenting class MO!

Well I am back to the grind today.  Have a lot to do where they closed our office down yesterday.  I know I live in Maine, but seriously, I am so over the snow.  They are calling for another storm Saturday. Ugh, my driveway is running out of room to put it all.

Today is my weight in and I am really hoping I lost. I feel like I am back on track, and I just want to see the number go down.

Anyway, back to work, enjoy your day ladies!

With driving lessons and skin that's going crazy after going off BCP ... yep, I feel like a teenager again.  And not in a good way!

Good luck with your class tonight!

  • Good morning!

Huh. Because of how we moved the furniture around for showing the condo, Sherlock has discovered that he can now jump from the couch, over one of the dining chairs onto the table. He is also highly interested in the vase of flowers that I had on the table, and made the jump about a dozen times last night to check them out.

We had to keep pulling him off the table, but at the same time couldn't help but applaud his new show of athleticism. Maybe it's time to weigh him in too!

  • Morning, all! Raynes, I'm going to have to sub out already Thursday for only Thursday. Then again, I thought it was Wednesday today! :)

Today's probably the pick up and ship day for those books I mentioned yesterday, so that won't be any fun. Bunch of editing to do, but hopefully that'll make the day go by quickly. Today's an optional gym night, but I'm leaning towards it right now. We'll see.

  • I am glad that it is Thursday already.  After an absolutely beautiful, warm-for-February day yesterday, today is ice cold and windy, but at least it's not gray.

Today I have a lobbying report due to a funder and our workers comp audit, plus I'm still calling Verizon on an hourly basis to yell at them about our lack of phone service.  Festive day at the office.

ETA: The Hunger Games is up next in my Kindle.  Right now I'm in the middle of The Emperor of All Maladies.  It's non-fiction about the history of cancer discovery and treatment.  Very good.

  • I took a vacation day Tuesday, because I knew there'd be snow and then they'd send us home early in it. I was right. Yesterday I was sort of surprised that they cancelled, considering the roads are probably just as bad today, so I didn't really see the point. It took me an extra hour to get to work today. I think it'd be an easier drive if you could see, but there's really nowhere to put all this freakin snow.

Another storm Saturday and then Tuesday. I'm really hoping the almost 40 degree weather they're showing melts some of this. I'm so over the big mounds everywhere. I did have quite a bit of fun playing in our yard with the dogs once we got some fluffy snow to cover all the poop. :)

Is it time to go home yet today? I need a nap already.

  • I'm back to work today. Yuck! The roads still aren't in good condition. We ended up with more ice/less snow. So the snow has been removed but the ice remains. Due to the frigid temperatures today (high of 10, currently 3, with windchills around -20), I don't think it will be melting off anytime soon either. Yesterday I got my car stuck in the ditch next to my driveway after getting it unstuck from the driveway itself. I'm ready for spring!

The good news though is that today is my Fake Friday. I'm off tomorrow to judge an MBA case competition. The winning student will win a full ride scholarship. Then I'll be attending an alumni event after for free as a thank you for being a judge. Free open bar, don't mind if I do.

  • Sushi- good luck on your test!

I worked from home yesterday even though I could have totally drove in around noon, everything was iced over again this morning, but it's melting now that the sun is out (finally!)...

I went to my dr this morning to talk about last week's confession.... however, I have been feeling better this week... so he put an rx on hold if I decide I need it (I don't particularly want it since we are TTC)... i'm glad to know I have a back up plan though if this doesn't continue to get better...

  • Good Morning Ladies!

    Good luck today MO!

Last night we had dinner with SIL and our nieces. Then home to crash, my bed time is 9pm these days.

Tonight I am headed to Trader Joe's to do some shopping and then home to relax a bit with DH.

  • I am hoping today is a good day at work as yesterday was dreadful. So looking forward to the weekend.

Hopefully the weather stays pleasant for us today as tonight we are playing a bunch of outdoor wide games with the teenagers we mentor.

  • Good morning ladies.  I'm working from home again today, after getting to the subway station and learning that the trains were an hour delayed and the platform was packed.  I took some pictures yesterday, so I will try to post them in a bit, but it looks exactly like what MO posted yesterday.  Tonight we're supposed to meet up with friends for dinner, but that will depend on whether the trains are running normal.

  • Good morning.

MO and Sushi - Good luck today!

I'm so glad it's Thursday, I feel like this week has been dragging on and on. I've realized that after I come back from maternity leave, I need to start looking for a new job. As much as I love my boss and what I do, I'm never going to get a raise, the benefits suck and things are not going to change for a long time, if ever. I've given it almost 5 years and I'm ready to move on. On a positive note, MIL is making chicken salad today and has offered to put some aside for us, so not only will I have a yummy dinner when I get home, I don't have to cook.
