Super Bowl Food

Re: Super Bowl Food

  • We don't watch nor are we into football.  I will be taking this opportunity to eat take-out pizza.  I may use my Groupon to Two Fat Cats for dessert, although I am feeling really stingy about using it.  I want to make sure I get the most out of it!

  • We're headed to my sister's, so most of the food will be taken care of.  We're planning on bringing bite-sized crab cakes, which we'll make using the Legal Seafood's recipe.  I guess I'll supply the near-beer, too.  (There will be three of us there who are ready to pop.)

  • We are going to a friend's house and I am bringing Crack Dip.   They usually have wings, taco dip, chili, and veggies and dip.   One year I made homemade taquitos with a soy chorizo.  They were good.  What are you thinking of doing???
  • We're not football fans so we don't usually watch unless we've been invited to a big party.  However, I am thinking about making a bbq chicken casserole to get in the spirit.
  • Not sure what we're planning on-- we are away all weekend so I'm not spending the day cooking for it. I'm sure DH will want nachos or something.
  • I'm riding solo since DH is still down in Charleston, and going out to one of the local bars when I can't imbibe and they'll be awash with inhebreated sportsfans doesn't sound like a hot time, so I'll be chilling home. Not sure I'll actually make anything, but I've been craving some cooked sushi from the awesome place down the street, so I might treat myself or whip up a pizza, nothing major sadly.

  • That's this weekend, huh? LOL Just not into it this year, even before Pats went out of it. IL's are coming over for dinner b/c they'll be back from their cruise so I guess we're having Chicken Marsala and home made Italian bread for the super bowl :P
  • My husband is a lifelong Packers fan so there will definitely be beer, cheese and bratwurst.  We're toying with the idea of bratwurst nachos.

  • We don't watch, but everyone's food sounds good!

  • I haven't thought that far ahead and all the football fans are heading to Saddleback for the day, so I'd be home all alone with Abby to cook.  If we end up having peeps over we'll have clam dip, chili, and probably this that was featured on the today show this morning.  Easy, beefy, cheesy enchiladas.  OMG!

  • I may also attempt a pickle dip, which I was introduced to at my last book club and which I have been thinking about ever since.

  • Ha ha, Kristen!   The stuff is good!  Joe and I fought over the leftovers yesterday!
  • I'm a HUGE fan of clam dip (my mom's is like freebasing awesomness), but PICKLE DIP?! What is the concotion, and why don't I have it in my mouth right now?! Holy yum sounding.

  • Yes, it's SO good, but I don't have the recipe so I'd love it too!

I once had buffalo chicken dip once that was made with Frank's Red Hot that I would love to make this weekend...it was so good, but I never got the recipe for that either...though I could probably wing it.

Whoops it was as easy as doing a search for frank's red hot haha here it is: I am a wimp when it comes to spicy things, but this was just delicious.(I don't think I'll use canned chicken though)

  • I do a buffalo chicken dip as well, but instead of using canned chicken, I'll pick up a roast chicken @ the store and shred it down- I think the flavor is a little better! I also doctor mine up with Sriracha hot sauce and a little smoked paprika. Always a fan favorite!

  • Buffalo Chicken Dip - I cook two chicken breasts in the crock pot to make mine.  Then you just shred the chicken and add it in.  I would NEVER use canned chicken.  The thought makes me gag.  Although I do eat canned tuna, so I am not sure what that is all about.

Pickle Dip - Apparently it is just cream cheese and a jar of pickles.  You use the juice and everything.  The person who made it shreds her pickles, but I think I would try using the food processor to save on time (and fingers).  Apparently the kind of pickle you use is a big deal.  She uses Hannaford dill pickles (and it was AH-MAZING).  I was thinking that sweet gherkins might also be good, but I am not sure that I am willing to mess with the perfection that I had the other night (although I might use light cream cheese - you know, because the chips that I am going to be dipping in the pickle dip are so low fat).

  • I really want to do cheese fondue in honor of rooting for the Pack. DH isn't so sure about it with the ol' 18 monther around, but I think it will be an excellent opportunity to try to fool some veggies into his picky little mouth.

If not that though, probably just loaded nachos.

Do you see a cheese based trend?
