How far is your commute?

Just wondering how far you ladies travel for work?

Is it highway? Backroads?

Re: How far is your commute?

  • Mine is 10 minutes on main roads.
  • me, its about 40 minutes in the morning, 25 minutes highway, about 15 backroads.

My commute home takes about an hour, when I pick up Luke 3 days a week at family my commute home is an 1 1/2 :(

  • Depends on the day. It takes me 30 minutes if I am going to my office, back roads most of the way. If I am on campus it takes 1.5 hours- all highway.

  • Without traffic (like yesterday or on some random Fridays) it can take 25 minutes, via highway. With traffic, more like 35-40 I think.

I tend to take the backroads home- it's a lot less hassle (plus I pass grocery stores). That takes me about 30 or so minutes.

  • Mine is about 20 min on one main road, though if DH and I commute in together I have to add an extra 10 min to get out of his work with all the traffic.

  • Ummm....

    4 miles.

If I go slow or get behind a bus, it's 10 minutes at the most. We built our house where we did because it's within 30 minutes of DH's work and close to mine for if/when we have a family.

  • 40-45 minutes in the morning, 45-55 minutes in the evening.  In the morning, I walk 3 blocks to the bus, am on the bus for 10-12 minutes, transfer to the train, on the train for 11 minutes, then walk another 3 blocks to work.  Evening is the reverse.
  • About 10-15 minutes, maine roads and Route 1 in Brunswick.

  • 35-45 minutes via bus (including wait time and walk to/from stops); 15-20 via car if someone drops me off do I don't have to find parking.

  • 40 minutes - Topsham to Scarborough - about min. or main/side roads and 30 highway.  I usually make my phone calls then so I can spend my time when I get home with Nolan and Joe.  Yup, I talk and drive.  :)
  • About 15-20 minutes, mostly on main roads with one small "short cut" road. It's 2 lanes for the most part, so it's insanely easy and convenient. If I get into the culinary program when we move to Louisiana, it'll be more like an hour+ each way, 4 days a week, boo!

  • Mine is about 35 minutes. A little longer in the afternoon sometimes and about 10 minutes longer on days Eli goes to daycare. It's all main roads, with one back "short cut" road on daycare days. I also use my ride home to make phone calls so I don't have to when I get home, so I don't mind it usually.

  • My drive is mostly highway.  20 mins without traffic.  With traffic, 30-45 is typical.

  • ummm, like 8 minutes...I drive about 2.5 miles from one end of Portland to the other...depends on the time of day, but I'm pretty darn lucky

  • I drop Ridley off at daycare so it takes about 15-20 minutes in the morning.  From campus to home at the end of the day is about 5 minutes.

  • My commute: the time it takes me to walk downstairs in the morning.

DH's commute: 35ish miles, mostly highway, plus several minutes sitting in traffic waiting to get through the gate at the shipyard, plus another 15+ minute walk between where he parks and his office, so that's a good hour each way on a good day.  When he changes jobs at the end of the month, he'll be working closer to the parking garage and he'll be able to work flex time again so he'll spend less time sitting in traffic.  (I could throttle the dumbshiit in DC who decided to take away flex time for most of the shipyard several months ago.  Trying to get 2000 people through 2 gates at the same time every morning and afternoon is assinine.)  I like to think that someday we'll move somewhere a bit closer to DH's job and into a better school district, but I don't know when/if that will ever happen.

  • About 25 min - half is on 125, then I'm on the highway for a few miles and onto Route 1 to the office.  When I first started working for this company I lived a mile down the road ... but both the office, and I, have moved twice!
  • 9 miles. 12 min. Main roads.

I got lucky...the hospital moved me to a satellite...which was coincidentally closer...  6 months after I began. It used to be 35 min in the winter and close to an hour during tourist season.

  • I'm in MA, but it's 15-20 mins to get there, and about 30 mins to get home because a busy highway feeds onto the backroad I use.

  • Mine is only about 5 minutes to work in the morning in the afternoons I pick up Evie so it is about a 10 minute loop. My DH on the other hand is 1.5 hours one way to Biddo!

  • Going right to work, 10 maybe 11 minutes, through town.  If I'm dropping Taylor off or picking her up, takes me about 20 minutes.  I love it!

  • 4 days a week I drive 50 minutes and 1 day a week I drive almost 2 hours. My drives are all highway.
  • 25 minutes - a little back roads and a little highway.
  • It takes me about 45 minutes whether I drop the boys off or not... because if I don't have to bring the boys, I leave later and I hit more shipyard/Pratt and Whitney traffic

My trip is down Routes 4 and 236, once I get out of Sanford
